This topic has been weighing heavily on me lately, and causing some despair. I was looking forward to a sharp, thorough treatment here, but I was really disappointed. The question is a layup, of course I am obligated to do God's will at every given moment out of total sacrificial love, and choosing otherwise is sin, I just really would like a discussion on how not to despair about this reality, and how to go about achieving it, instead of being gaslit for striving for perfection as commanded. All I hear whenever I talk about this subject is "Dont worry about striving for perfection or loving God completely, just be a halfway saint, St. Therese, St. John of the Cross, and Jesus were all wrong"

I think the part from 17:00 onwards is relevant here. I think part of it is, how can you be sure at every moment what the correct course of action is? There are some obvious dos and don'ts but many decisions are morally neutral or unclear to us. Also, sometimes there isn't simply one course of action that is better than all others. Or there might be acts that are 'objectively' better than others, like giving all you have to the poor rather than continuing to own things, but that might be the wrong course of action for you in your current state of life. Would St. Paul have recommended marriage, which he makes clear is not as good as the celibate state, if he were a morality maximiser?

Maybe I missed it, but did you two fail to mention choosing to VOTE for the better good or lesser evil? Being so close to election day and all.

"Believe in me and all your sins will be forgiven" is not a good basis for morality.

Our Parish Priest encouraged us to get ja. bd - we now find this could make you sick or worse. We have had no support from religious leaders against the tyranny of our controlling governments even after I and others wrote to Bishops Archbishops We are/ were needy of help and support

If that faith is what drives us to repent of those sins and avoid them in future, what better basis for morality is there?

@@anglaismoyen Yes. He is spreading the false gospel of "climate change". He has abandoned the true Gospel.

@@carolynkimberly4021 Climate change isn't a gospel. It's just a thing. In what way does caring for the planet like we've been commanded to by God lead us to abandon the Gospel?

@@anglaismoyen We do not sin against the environment unless, like Francis, you believe that nature is a god. He also talks about the earth as our "common home". As Catholics we believe that our true home is in heaven. Francis is all about pagan pantheism. His idolatrous veneration of the earth God, Pachamama, and his recent participation in American Indian rites in Canada further demonstrate his moving away from concerns of the Gospel toward those of the earth.

@@carolynkimberly4021 We don't sin against the environment but we do sin against God by destroying the home he has provided for us. And yes, heaven and then the New Earth will be our home, but while we are on this earth it is our home, given to us, over which we exercise God-given stewardship.
