I have baby clothes my mum knitted for my boys (now 40 and 43 years old). The mistakes she made make these garments even more precious, they are my mum - flawed, beautiful and loved.

Taking care of my 98 year old mother is sometimes over whelming. 24 hours a day 7 days a week with no help and having to provide skilled nursing care can really get one down. At my age (70) I need de-stress by as Kate says get out of your head and into your hands. Yarn work really helps. After finishing the six rows I decided to get a bit more of an up lift by watching the cooking episode of Arne and Carlos making the Dolly banana cake. Had a belly laugh as the banana slices slide off the cake. Even the camera crew broke down with laughter. Thanks guys for this classic! A real dose of perfect "medicine". 10 books published. Just finished today’s rows, first time I did need to back track. The more complex pattern made me stay focused! One thing I have learned, as I watch Arne knit, is the importance of stretching the work as you move around on the needles. It’s really helps me manage yarn tension and makes me double check the pattern as I go. That you for providing the knitting footage in these episodes -we know it was extra work for you! Your Christmas tree reminds me of what some people used to do in the Second World War in England. Or at least according to the TV programme 'Back in Time for Christmas', some families would make their own wooden Christmas tree out of scrappy pieces of wood. Cheap and convenient. Yours, I must say, looks better formed than the one that the family made on the show!
