Hi Dan, spooky, I fished a lake,a couple of weeks ago, for the first time to christen my new SGS2 0-5g, I was chuffed I caught my first Perch, after a while of nothing happening I switched bait from pink Marukyu Isome to Gulp Sandworm and almost instantly my new pink 6lb Major Craft line was being taken, I panicked and tightened the drag and all went light, reeled in and found the size 8 hook (largest allowed there) had straightened, so quickly made another rig, had two more runs, both snapped me off, the last one I almost landed, missus had the net ready, saw it was a Carp, it then ran until it snapped me off again, was at least double figures. I went home really disappointed but as the evening went on I realised, I've never had a fish take line and had the drag screaming, and never had a fish big enough to straighten a hook, so the feeling changed to a good one! I have you to thank for getting into LRF and couldn't believe it seeing you hooking into a Carp too! Another great video 🎣🎣😁

Ive often wondered if an osp mmz chibi worm would work for the carp, or gulp slamon eggs as the later look like mini boilies. EDIT: gutted again that i missed saying hello and thanking you for the countless enjoyable hours ive spent watching your channel. I was fishing with Lucas,Aaron, Kev and Reuben on the end of the pier on sunday 21st 😖

Ah shame. I was fishing by 8am and left around 4. Don't need to thank me though. Nice to know they get watched.

Great to know. Never intended for them to be instructional. Just fish alongside. But glad they help. Will be editing the Bream session today or tomorrow.

I like to give the River Otter a try, are there any 'free fishing' stretches or is it all club/day ticket water? Where you were looked a lovely piece of river. As always a nice film. Thanks...

You can fish for free from the sea up to the salmon weir

Hi Dan. Sorry to have to point it out but thought your subscribers should be aware the free stretch of the R Otter ends at the Clammer Bridge (between Budleigh and Otterton) and not Otterton Weir. The fishing between the weir and the bridge is leased from Clinton Devon Estates by two small syndicates. They’re fly only and don’t offer days tickets I’m afraid. It’s a similar storey further upstream way up past Honiton with the fishing held either by clubs, syndicates or landowners. There is a small stretch of the R Tale (the Otters largest tributary which you can fish under the West County Angling Passport Scheme. Bit more detail in link below, including if anyone is interested how to apply for membership of Ottery Fly Fishing Club the largest club on the river by someway. If anyone is visiting E Devon and fancies a go for a sea trout then there is a day ticket stretch on the lower R Axe at Abbey Farm (£10 I think) where you have a decent chance of one. Just make sure you have a EA licence for migratory salmonids if you do fish it. Or try the Otter Estuary particularly the river mouth, and at night as there’s a good chance of sea trout in season, but also decent Bass and Mullet. How they see a small fly is beyond me but they all do. Hope that of use and here’s the link Cheers Bruce www.riverotterfisheriesassociation.org/fishing-clubs-and-day-tickets

Thank you for this. I've clearly been told the wrong information. I was told it was up to the bridge past the weir that slopes up to the far bank. Noted though.
