I SO enjoy your videos, Howard. Thank you! I'm sure your fans wouldn't mind longer and more videos from you, if you have the time and inclination. It's my favorite channel 😊

I love your videos! Your are so interesting to listen to, and I learn a lot - especially as the orchids of your greenhouse also tend to be among my favourites :-)

That's really nice of you to say so. I was always hoping that my occasional videos would be enjoyable to watch and useful to other orchid enthusiasts.

See the following: "The species epithet xyrekes comes from the Greek word ξυρηκής (transliterated as "xyrekes"), meaning "shaved" or "smooth," likely referring to the specific appearance or texture of some part of the flower, like its lip or petals, which might have a smoother, "shaved" look compared to other species."

I need a bit advice. My coelogyne's leaves (only 2 of them!) have dropped off. Having investigated, I noticed the roots are very small but the bulbs are very green. Need to know how to repot, does it need any medium? Can I just hang it without any medium? And most of all, is it dead??

Hi Tracey. It is very difficult to provide advice without seeing a plant and where it grows ot having a spercific name but the starting point for most coelogynes is a small preferably clear pot (so you can see what's going on below the surface) filled with smallish chunks of bark and kept somewhere bright but not in dirrect sun. Immerse the pot in water and let the bark almost dry out before watering again. Unlike other houseplants many orchids do not necessarly have masses of roots. Growing coelogynes attached to a piece of bark would be tricky for most people. Don't know if that helps.

No, I wouldn't have the time or motivation to keep posting content. Also , I try not to have anything to do with any of Mark Zuckerberg's group of companies.
