Wow! This is valuable information for me. I have never grown this orchid before, seems it love a cool environment but I will definitely add one to my collection, after being sensitized with your demo. Your coelogyne orchids are so healthy and beautiful that I have now yielded to temptation lol. Thanks as always for sharing, Thelma, very informative and straight forward demo for beginners. Cheers and all the very best🙌🏽👍💞.

What a glorious orchid! Thank you Thelma for a very instructive video. I have recently bought three different species of coelogne (trinervis, viscosa and Mem W Micholitz). Hopefully, they will like sub-tropical Australian conditions.

I have always struggled with growing orchids.You made it look so easy...I think I might try again thank you
@thelmamccatty9181 Жыл бұрын
Please try again. But bear in mind that not all types are easy, it depends on your growing conditions. I'm still struggling with dendrobiums. I bought 6 young ones yesterday and will make another attempt. 🤞

Remember orchids want a quick wash on their roots with a small amount of fertilizer no direct mid day sun, they love morning sun since it’s less intense, and from what I know these orchids are very sensitive to seasons the wet season in summer and the dry fall/winter

@@thelmamccatty9181my dendrobiums do great and I live in Vancouver Canada, remember to keep them dry during winter/fall

@@Peterrdee Thanks again for the advice. I just returned from holidays and left my dendrobiums hanging in a grapefruit. Very little rain fell in the 3 weeks and they're fine. I plan to keep them in the tree and pay more attention to fertilizing.

I got the plant without a name tag, but based on Google, it looks very much like coelogyne asperata.

I have one and its never bloom for me....does it need a cool environment to bloom?
@thelmamccatty9181 Жыл бұрын
You guessed it. Coelogyne does prefer cooler areas, those with temp between 70-75 F (21-24C) in the warmer months and 50-60 F (10-20C) in the cooler, drier months. Also, make sure it gets bright, but indirect light. In other words, don't keep it in deep shade.🌄🙏
