The Rananculous looks wonderful finished. The Pi Camisole is an interesting construction and I like the colour. The Anna Tee is knitted in a gorgeous pink yarn. On a warmer day you will welcome the looseness of the Anna Tee. I am much more socially involved and my grandson 20th Birthday is tomorrow. So this afternoon I baked 18 scones and we have them with homemade apricot jam (my husband makes the jam) and whipped cream. On Monday and Wenesday eveing I am out as well as Thursday morning. That is besides shopping etc. Take care Tash ❤😊❤

Hi Tash, I had such a good giggle watching you today, you were on such a roll, just being yourself, it was great. I do enjoy how you analyse, and then explain what youre analysing, and why, and your conscience shines its way through it all. I love your ranunculus, and your blankets were a real treat......and I need that skirt, I cant wait to hear more about it next week. I meant to get something up on instagram, I was planning on putting up a jumper I just knit but I was a little disappointed with how it turned out. The fail made me a wee bit unnerved (the curse of pride), I will put something up, perhaps putting up my ruinous jumper will be good for me. Also, I have never used instagram until a week ago so thats probably adding to the nerves. I sound like a tech basket case but tis a long story to explain why. Thanks again for such a great vid. Oh, I almost forgot..I have to share this. Skein Sisters put out a call for sample knitters a couple of weeks ago, you may have heard about it. I read it in my email, got caught in a bored moment, and without really thinking just applied. I didnt think I would get picked, but as I filled out the form I thought maybe they would keep my details, and if I applied enough times I might get a look in when I'm a better knitter. It was straight forward, I just told them what I could and couldnt do, there are a lot of things I havent tried, and then I linked my ravelry project page. After I did it, asked myself why I did such a thing and felt a bit I felt a bit silly and guilty for wasting their time. About a week later, just moments after I was recounting my silly actions to my husband, I got an email saying I had been chosen as a sample knitter! Im still in shock, I couldnt even sleep I was so excited, I felt like a little girl again. God is very gracious isnt he, he answers those prayers we dont even dare to pray for, or think to pray for. I was thinking how you work for Skein Sisters and just had to share my excitement. Theres about 20 others from what I can gather, and everyone seems very friendly and helpful, its just lovely. Anyway, I hope you have a lovely week, I'll post something in the KAL soon. Cheers, Tara

So happy with each of your episodes 🌺 your knits are lovely, and the crochet blankets, what beautiful gifts, a real hug, as you say. I own a weighted blanket, there is something comforting about the weight (not now in summer though 😂) about the yarn, if I am not mistaken De Rerum Natura is a French brand, so they indeed pronounce Antigone as you said in French BUT as you rightly stated the play is a greek one, AND there is also indeed latin in the mix because "De Rerum Natura" is the title of a poem in latin by Lucretius. 🌺I also went to see the Barbie movie with my sister, and I had the same impression, it was fun but it has been hyped way beyond what I was expecting. I was a bit disappointed, but still, I loved the dresses and Barbieland, which was I was really looking forward to. take care 🌺🌸

That is so interesting about all the names of the yarns and the brand De Rerum Natura. I absolutely loved English at school and enjoy reading so much. Just not enough hours in the day to do all the things. Yes - Barbieland and the dresses were fabulous and worth watching the movie to see. x

Your cumulus tee looks lovely on you as does your ranunculus. I knitted my cumulus tee in knitting for olive in silk which I purchased from "The Yarn Bowl" in QLD. They have the cotton merino also. I love the drape knitting for olive has. I've knitted a rock it tee using holst garn coast which I find is a much lighter weight but still nice to wear.

Thank you for your lovely comments, Cheryl. Thank you so much for letting me know of an Australia supplier for the Knitting for Olive Pure Silk and the Cotton Merino. The prices are really reasonable, too. That is great to know. I'll mention that on the next podcast in case people dont see this in the comments. The one top i made from the Coast is lovely to wear, I just found i didnt enjoy the knitting that much. It was also very different to what i was expecting and that can make a big difference in online ordering. Even if the yarn is nice, if it isnt what I thought it was going to be, I end up with negative impressions. x

If we were back in the 80s Tash the perfect solution for those roomy saddle shoulders would be shoulder pads!🤣 Your blankets are amazing, such a beautiful array of colours! Such a gorgeous keepsake for your kids. You find such interesting patterns - the wrap skirt is incredible! Thanks for another fabulous episode! 😃

I am not even sure if thrift shops would have garments with these in them... Thanks so much for watching and for commenting. x

Tash, the Anna Tee. It looks as if the problem is not with the sleeve, but with the upper body. If the shoulder raglan shaping had not gone so far before starting the straighter body section (where it looks fairly straight before the armhole shape). Then do a steeper increase to reach the right number of stitches for straight section (I wish I could draw this!) - essentially cutting off that top corner where the excess fabric is on the body. I hope you make make sense of all this!! As always, thanks for a wonderful podcast - I enjoy them all.

Thanks so much for your thoughts around this. I think you are right - i needed to come out maybe an inch less in those shoulder extensions. This is a construction I am less familiar with so it was hard to tell when knitting it how it was going to end up. And, of course, it blocked out quite a bit wider as that puckering went away. It is still very wearable a I do still like it - and love the colour - so i am sure i will wear it. but if i do a repeat knit, i would change that section up a little. in the meantime, i might look for some small, discreet shoulder pads. ;)

I have the sloping shoulder and have found that knitting the size smaller for the upper body and switching to larger size when you split for sleeves works without having to figure everything out yourself. The key is to measure your upper chest (right at your armpit - all the way around) knit to that measurement (keeping in mind your chosen ease) for the upper body, then add the number of stitches for splitting for sleeves that will bring you to the stitch count for the chest measurement. Some of my students actually keep the stitch count for small size and increase on the sides to come to the bust measurement they want.Which keeps the upper area nice and neat. Hope this helps. If you need more explanation, just let me know. Also, Isabell Kraemer has some good patterns that have a great shoulder construction for a sloping shoulder (even though all of her photos show a really strong horizontal shoulder 🙃.
@mostlyknitting
@mostlyknitting Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for that explanation. I guess part of the issue is i am already usually knitting the smallest size, so there isnt one smaller to go down to. But then i can use the measurements you have mentioned and work with that. I do love Isabell Kraemer's designs so i might go check out some of hers and give one a go. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and to explain the measurements. :)

Great choices for your Pi Tee and what wonderful finished projects...Just gorgeous. Love the choices of your colourwork -Grey and darker pink. it always takes to actually knit the colours together to find the best fit. Wow about the blankets.... so tempted to make one. I did a quilt for my youngest son that he used a lot (also quite heavy). A lot to be said for the weighted blanket security and calmness it gives you. I just placed the roots and shoots in my likes for a future project... so beautiful. I thought maybe if you add a very slight shoulder pad - it may fix the issue a little....

As always love your podcast. I got up the nerve to start knitting my first garmet!!! Your tutorials on different stitches and repairs are so helpful. The way you think through your kniitting has taught me a lot. btw... I am in the USA where for some reason we still use imperial measures, but I only use metric at work so I use metric much more. :) The purple rannunculus looks so good on you. Kay

In Canada we’ve officially been metric since 1975. But still use imperial/metric interchangeably too. 😊 We buy our yarn in grams but speak of how many yards are in a skein.
@mostlyknitting
@mostlyknitting Жыл бұрын
It is funny what people keep and lose. We have dropped yards but kept feet and inches. But each generation seems to be moving more metric. Which I think is good - the conversions are a lot easier. ;)
