Hi Tash, I have no problem with your sound or volume. I like your soft voice! Also, it was lovely to see your pooch....his clacking around always brings a smile to my face. I agree that the grey/pink combo is not quite right, even though both are beautiful on their own. I'm so happy you stuck with the Cumulus Tee, because it is magnificent! Very flattering color and fit. Your new name, Friends from the Vault, is charming and always a highlight. Mia's mitts didn't get mentioned again....hope all is fine with her.

Thanks so much Constance. I was thinking about "Friends from the Vault" and thought maybe it sounded like people i was keeping in a dungeon... Not quite the vibe i am going for... ;) You are very attentive and perceptive - i didnt mention Mia's mitts in the Personal Stuff. I meant to and then forgot in the moment. She is ok. Just some stuff between me and her. I'll mention lightly in the next podcast. Thanks for caring. xx

Loving your wips and so glad you persisted with your cumulus. What a ride hey 🎢 but it looks so good. I think you nailed it with the warm and cool with your pink fizz. That pink is something else 💕 Roll a pair of undies or something small and stick it in your T-shirt like fake shoulder pads to see if you like the look before buying something you may not use. That’s just my budget minded suggestion 🤭😂 I mind those pennies Your skirt 😠 I use RIT dyes with vinegar and it lightly simmers (no bubbles) on the stove until there is no dye left in the water 20-50mins and then let it cool naturally. 40 degrees… that is weird!! You held it up and I thought oh you must not had time to try and dye it 🫤 I handed out flyers in Sydney as a teenager down The Rocks and Circular Quay, boy was that an experience! Now I always try to be kind to people handing things to me, well as kind as I can be 🤭🤣 New car 🚗♥️ I love cars. Zoom zoom. Yay new bathroom, how fab. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for all your comments, Karen. I love the idea of an improvised shoulder pad before i bother to purchase an actual one. I may hate it and that would be a waste of time and money. I know - such weird instructions on the Dylon. It clearly isnt meant for dyeing wool. I will get some RIT and do it on the stove like I have done before. It wont be perfect but hopefully it will be better than what it is right now. We will see! Have a great week. :)

👋imo entry was a modified Flax sweater…split hem, tighter gage, 2x2 rib on hem, cuffs and collar. I was very excited as this is my first garment that I’ve knitted. Being legally blind I never thought I would get here. As for the pink and grey, I would prefer a raspberry/mulberry color. The Cumulus Tee is gorgeous.🌸🌸🌸

Oooh that flufferama pink yarn is scrumptious Tash!!! And I agree that the grey doesn’t quite work. Thank you for the tip of going up a needle size for a stretchy bind off. I’ve tried several types of stretchy bind offs with minimal success so I’ll try the bigger needle size for my Ranunculus bind off. I got a bit cocky after creating my own charts for little sheep and little mushroom beanies and tried to make one that looked like the dog in the Hairy Maclary books - it looked more like a frightening wolf!!! 🤣 The volume at my end is fine. Thanks for another great episode. 😃🧶

Thanks so much Susie. I really like the look of the tubular cast on and bind off but it really does depend on the project as to whether i see the value in it. I love it on the brim of a hat in 1x1 rib. I love that your cute dogs resemble scary wolves. I am sure the kids will still love them. Have a great week. :)

Hello Tash! so happy when I see you have uploaded a new one! the volume does tend to be a little low, but it's not a problem 🌸love your friends from the vault! I knit a cardigan from Heidi Kirrmaier as well, for my mom, last summer "Fine Sand", she wanted a very streamlined, no frills model, and then I made a top from another pattern with the same yarn so that she could have a twin set. I think it came out beautiful. I don't have as much experience with patterns but it was written in a very different way then many other patterns I have come by, which was interesting. I am loving your Pi camisole! I think I will have to start doing what fashion brands do and knit my summer tops in winter and vice versa, because I am slow 😂 taking inspiration from you and will return to find useful info once I decide to knit certain things. Your cumulus is so pretty, love the delicate color on you🌸I am on craftsy too! I tend to forget about it though but would like to make many things there too 😊 for the pink velvet, after you said that, I can see it, the warm and cool, and maybe it's worth finding another base? field sweater, I really love it, but I also the two color version of "purlificknitter" I found stunning, maybe because the rose color contained the same off white in it, so it was not a stark contrast and seemed more natural....hmmm got interrupted will finish seeing it in the next days! 🌸🌺🌸🌺

The cumulus tee is looking fabulous.I do think pink and grey are a good combination. Grey is a little cool but mostly neutral and will make the beautiful fluffy pink look beautiful. Your grey is very mild but if you want more constrast navy will pop the pink more. Even aqua would go with the pink you have. So glad you found a good car and things have settled a bit more. Oh yes... reports

When it comes to selecting colors for projects (especially color work) I tend to use the black and white photo method. I take a photo in medium light, using the black and white setting. When using that setting, I can better see the depth of color value without allowing the actual colors play on my emotions.

I found your volume to be fine. I ordered the Field Sweater pattern but have not picked yarn yet. I have to be careful with wool. I tend to be very sensitive. I am leaning towards an off white color for Field Sweater. I am just finishing up the Summer Sorrel. Love all your suggestions!!! ❤
@mostlyknitting
@mostlyknitting Жыл бұрын
Thanks Maryann. The yarn for the Field sweater needs to be a thoughtful choice. I think it may work well with some woolly wools which could be a bit scratchy. I would probably wear it over a T shirt but I woulf feel it on my forearms and close to my neck. I am not overly sensitive but some places are and my neck is one. Looking forward to hearing what you choose. :)

Hi Tash. I love seeing your progress with the Cumulus Tee. I’m knitting mine with Tynn Line in a soft dusty pink (3511) so it will be quite similar to yours when it’s finished although not much progress last few weeks because as we move into Autumn in the northern hemisphere there’s more inclination to start a warm woolly jumper 🥶. For the Pink Velvet, since you are asking for opinions, I’m not a fan of the grey with the pink. I like the pink so maybe an analogous colour would work well? Brown or a darker magenta shade? I think they would really suit your colouring too. I bought myself a colour wheel to help choose colours for Fairisle knitting but it is useful to be able to identify colour families and the colours that complement or tone with them. Good luck! Looking forward to seeing what you eventually choose 😊 Kaye (aka Mystic.breeze - don’t ask it was a friends idea 😂)

Thanks Kaye. I'm looking forward to seeing your Cumulus in Tynn Line. I am really keen to try out this yarn. I'm so glad to receive the feedback about the grey and pink. I mean - grey and pink is meant to be a classic combo. But it really depends. Not all greys are the same. This one just doesnt seem to work with the Pink Lemonade. I am definitely keeping the pink. I just need to find a warmer MC. x

Your volume is fine! Maybe some people have trouble with accents. I have been in Canada over 30 years and some people still can’t understand me! So happy the Cumulous Tee has worked out because I really love that Ballerina colour and the vintage rose colour on your other project. Hi Tash. I have always found your volume fine and I am deaf in one ear, I just turn it up to full volume lol. Your cumulus tee looks so lovely on you and well done for sticking with it until you were happy with the fit, and thank you for all the details in your mods, I find them so helpful the way you go through them. I know what you mean about the yarn colours for pink velvet, I just love grey but do you think a lighter softer grey would be better perhaps? Have a great week ❤

Thanks so much Carol. It is interesting how there does seem to be "not quite right" vibe with the pink and grey. Yes, a softer, warmer grey would be better. Thanks for the feedback on the sound. Hello Tash 👋 I think your volume/clarity/sound has always been especially since I know you mentioned it is all from your phone. I do think that a microphone will really up your podcast though so you dont need to second guess or worry during it. I also actually love to hear your dog clapping about hehe! Also this is a comment for a previous podcast that I forgot to say, you may not have heard of my LYS - Makerie (in the ACT) are stockists of Isager and also Loch Lomond and chiaogoo should you ever need another place to check for items or to visit 😂 I think there was a project you had in mind perhaps it was the field sweater? Although I missed a few episodes in between

Hi Lindsay - Thank you so much for the feedback on the volume. It may not be until the long school holiday break but I will be working on editing and tech stuff during the Christmas school holidays when I get 6 weeks off. The rest of this term and next term are going to be full-on with my work. Thank you so much for letting me know about your LYS and what they stock. I will go take a look this weekend. I am definitely looking for yarn for the Field Sweater. :)

I'm doing the PI camisole now. Can you please explain what this sections means: "Cast on XX stitches. The first 3 stitches and the last 3 stitches are edge stitches". What is the meaning of that? What type of edge stitches did you do?
@mostlyknitting
@mostlyknitting Жыл бұрын
Hi marie. I understand the confusion. There is nothing special about the edge stitches except that the designer is indicating that increases are always happening 3 sts in from the edge. So if you are on a knit row, knit them. If you are on a purl row, purl them. I hope that helps. :)

imho, the grey doesn’t feel right because it is the same value of the pink. It lacks some punch. Either increase the value of the pink or darken the grey.

That's an interesting point as well - I havent taken a photo in monochrome but I imagine it will be hard to see the pattern as well. I will have to keep that in mind when i choose another main colour yarn as i definitely want this pink to pop.

I would expect that whatever you dye the skirt you will always have a difference in the shades, as each existing shade will be affected differently by the dye. Sorry to disappoint! I enjoy watching your vids while I’m spinning 😊

I understand and I agree. I am just hoping that by doing a complete overdye, the difference may be lessened enough to make it less of an eyesore. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Enjoy your spinning. :)
