Children’s role in society is often seen as “becoming”, wherein their participation and insights only become significant when they become an adult. Their participation becomes tokenistic, rather than allowing them to significantly influence the decision-making process on matters affecting them.
One of AHRC’s approaches in protecting and promoting human rights is to empower children to know their rights, how to protect themselves and their peers, and how to share this knowledge to the community. They are also given a platform to significantly contribute to programs and policies affecting them.
In this episode, ChildTALK alumni, Jemuel, will share his journey as a child rights advocate and how this influenced how they see their role in society.
