As though the literature is always right (it's not). Question conventional wisdom, because it's usually not 'wisdom'. Lack of scientific evidence does not equal 'false', merely unproven (though in his case, it certainly is intriguing given that "the literature" isn't working very well for a lot of people). Remember, Galileo got in a lot of trouble for going against "the literature".
