You know why Kevin O’Leary says that watches are a good asset class? Because he buys directly from the AD! Of course he’s going to say that. He makes 40%+ as soon as he walks out of the door.
@BennissonWatch10 ай бұрын
He doesn’t only buy from AD’s boss. He buys both AD market based pieces and pre-owned pieces. It’s about what models, brands, and buy-in prices you get, not only playing the AD game.

I can add to these brand some others more independent.Akrivia and REXHEP REXHEPI is one Roger smith is the second and phillipe dufour but i thing its too late for that brand.I also believe that there is some space to lange & sohne to go up in value
@BennissonWatch11 ай бұрын
I love REXHEP REXHEPI and other independent Haute Horology makers. They definitely have future staying power in the space, however, they aren’t considered investment grade yet. The reason isn’t because of the caliber of watchmaking, it’s due to liquidity of resale. That factor keeps brands like R. Gauthier, Christophe Claret, and Jacque Droz on the fringes of investing. They’re more like high-grade collector inventory that can retain value versus investments.

You also have to factor maintenance and insurance costs.
@BennissonWatch10 ай бұрын
Maintenance is not a lot at all especially if you care for your timepieces properly. You really only need service every 5-8 years, 10 if you’re lucky to keep it running smooth and preventing long term damage. Insurance isn’t relevant. That’s something you can do if you really want to as a line item on your home owner’s insurance, or you can get a block insurance policy cheap. I prefer vault, and an arsenal of you know what’s!

If you're considering watches as investments, it's crucial to pay attention to the purchase price. Buying a Rolex at grey market prices -- with the risk of acquiring high-end fakes -- is unlikely to yield significant returns. Those advocating for Rolex as a sound investment often compare prices between Authorized Dealers and the grey market. Furthermore, Rolex is set to expand its production capabilities. Beginning in 2025, three new factories are expected to commence operations in the canton of Fribourg. Additionally, Rolex is planning to open a new factory in Bulle, Switzerland, with an investment of $1.1 billion, slated to start production in 2029.

Watch any watch dealer videos and they are just selling to each other and jacking up the price, and it’s the end user that eats all the margin.
@BennissonWatch10 ай бұрын
Yes Rolex is upping manufacturing production capacity, but they’re also getting more stringent on controlling aftermarket prices and now offering the certified pre-owned buy back program which will launch prices up over the long term. This is how supply control works. Rolex is volatile as a short-term arbitrage play especially when buying secondary market pieces too high, but a great long term blue-chip investment if you just hold the pro sport models

How is discussing timepieces as investments trendy and/or click bait? I’ve been doing this for 15 years before any mass market KZbinr was talking about it.

@@BennissonWatch I've watched sone of your content, always liked it. But I'm just not a fan of the clickbait thumbnails sorry... So you’re saying DON’T create thumbnails that create more interest that eventually lead to more people being impacted in a positive way? Do not harbor disdain for the participant; rather, direct your disapproval towards the rules of engagement@@AnaInTh3Sky

I think RM long term not good hold my opinion the look it's not timeless it's so hyp I think with 15 20 years it will die
@BennissonWatch11 ай бұрын
I can understand what you mean by that. RM has the backing of the juggernauts in the watchmaking world, and is on the wrist of the most visible admired athletes like Bubba Watson, Raphael Nadal, and Usain Bolt though so I do believe it has staying power for the long term
@Aziz_H_K11 ай бұрын
@@BennissonWatch Maybe true but still it doesn't mean if these celebrities wear it it will be a classic timeless watch don't forget hublot thy made every celebrity wore their watches like Maradona and Pele and others and these are much more famous than Nadal and Bolt,,, Jacob and Co He died letting Ronaldo wear his watch and no one knew about his watches and maybe my words are wrong and RM be strong in the long term because in the end most people buy watches to show off and RM be known as the watch of the rich people This is the only point that they can play on it,, otherwise the watch is very ugly and overrated
@BennissonWatch11 ай бұрын
The difference between Jacob & Co, Hublot etc. is they were made cheap and marketed to the mass market. RM is a different breed. It’s built with haute horology techniques, uses high-end expensive materials, and has the “FU” factor that keeps the wealthy and elite interested. @@Aziz_H_K
