completely false nowadays. back 15 years+ ago or so, especially before the turn of the millennium, nearly every stafford was a quality specimen. nowadays the non KC registered staffords are awful. you can always tell a none papered dog, their quality is very low 90% of the time and most of the time theyre crosses of some sort. you want a true stafford, you better get one with papers in todays day and age. Also, the guy talking here about "the best stafford he'd ever seen"..... it wasnt that the dog wasnt papered/pedigree... its that his neighbour gave him the dog as a present but didnt have the papers. doesnt mean there wasnt papers at birth. in the 90's we had a none papered dog we rescued from gypsies who were trying to fight it..... one of the best looking staffords we ever had.... obviously we didnt have any papers or pedigree with it at all..... but 100% the dog will have been a pedigree with papers at birth

Great information, fantastic pictures. It was good to learn more about the history of the breed. I have two staffordshire bullterriers. One is more the sporty type, the other more short and stocky. I defiantly prefer the taller more sporty type. They seem to be more healthier as well. I would buy a pup off him foreshore. He's got a clear vision for the breeds future. We need more breeders that think the same way he does. CHEERS FROM DOWNUNDER

What you said is so true sadly a lot of today’s sbt are all blue the muzzles are getting shorter & thats a worry. This guy gets it as do you! I want a real sbt i ain’t interested if its a bit heavier than what the show people say it should be & its got legs & its head aint massive. As this guy says its the character their spirit thank god there’s still breeders like this fella

The 'blue' fad is wrecking the breed. Money grubbers breeding for colour not type and temperament. Many such cases.

Thankyou for the video .I have always had staffords since being ten .there the best breed ever .I would like to show my boy whos 2 the way he moves he' has plenty of character not just the way he.looks . I have never showed before My dogs are all family . I also love the pit bull I would not own one as have no experience with them and with them being a lot stronger than the stafford I probably would struggle. I have 2 at the min a 13 year old and a two year old .I.lost my best stafford ever two years ago he had no papers or anything he was just the best stafford I have ever had 😘

I've had a SBT for 7 years now, love the breed and always have done... one of the main traits I've noticed in what I would call real SBT's is that they have this almost call to action essence about them... My dogs an intact male, if he's engaged by another male dog (specifically natured males) in a dominant way my dog will not back away or down no matter what... but he never seems to try to dominate other dogs...

Great to hear him giving APBT some credit here. They are great dogs and it really is a shame that their name has been permanently smeared in the minds of the public thanks to irresponsible media headlines and bad ownership. But they really are the most capable of dogs.

@@mayqueen7525 I've caught hundreds of hogs with 35-45lb pits. I know of a 45-50lb apbt that got out and killed a very expensive bull and himself in doing it. Most people that truly know and understand the history of the apbt believe the theory that they have always existed and this and that were added in here and there when the breeder thought it might give his dogs an advantage, but never 50/50 crosses over more than a generation. Also when you inbreed dogs over many generations especially with selective breeding you can greatly reduce the size of the dogs without any cross breeding. Just a few things for you to ponder, I don't pretend to know it all I just know some and wanted to add to the discussion not trying to be disrespectful.
@mayqueen7525
@mayqueen7525 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheRednose3269 and you are lucky none have run off with your dogs. Does it happen all the time? Obviously not but it can. I never said anything about 50/50 crosses just that they aren't straight bulldog. Yes inbreeding can decrease size but not by half or more.
@TheRednose3269
@TheRednose3269 4 жыл бұрын
@@mayqueen7525 If you are selectively breeding them to be smaller it sure could. Also over a few hundred years almost nothing stays truly pure, but like I have previously stated they have always been around and people in different small pockets bred them to suit themselves, to say any other breed had a large influence on it imo would be incorrect. As far as hogs running off with dogs, if you mean the hog grabs the dog and runs off, that does not happen with catchdogs not saying it couldn't just very unlikely. What can and will occasionally happen is a big hog will run off with a smaller catchdog attached to it's ear like an ear ring. We usually hunt with two catchdogs a small one and a large one and we do pretty well and we don't lose catchdogs very often. You take care.

I would first say Stafford was mixed with the old English bull Terrier witch was kinda the first actual American pitbull terrior then in American fashion bigger better so we added other dogs that was around that showed game back when I was young the old timers considered them all to the Bulldogs an over time they have slowly involved into the American pitbull instead of American pitbull terrior but that's my opinion I've loved the breed for 40plus years now I while say if it falls away from what it stood for like the human aggressive nature or the bulldog look then that's different that's the problem I have with the bullys I've owned both an in my experience they bully is more likely to turn on you that's a big difference they claim they bullys where bread to take the aggressive behavior out I don't agree necessarily its took some dog aggressive out some but made people worse the bulldog developed more for protection an pitbull was bread to fight not bite the handlers I know they where mainly wanting for them to be bigger an say they bread it out but inthe long run its going to be worse on the breed as far as bites are concerned sorry for getting long winded jus thought I'd but my to cents in lol

For You to say that there was no difference between the English Staff and the Irish Staff is Pure Rubbish! The Irish Lines were rangier in height and was a bigger Dog that resembled todays American Pitbull Terrier! There are Copious Amounts of Pictures and History of Irish Staff Owners and English Staff Owners together...and you could see a Distinct Difference in overall Appearance! True it is tho, that were were Irish Lines that had many a Dog with Strong resemblance.to.Irish Lines and that's because Bulldogs were Bred on their "Capabilities" and not size, color, or head Standards! Standards are what has ruined many a Fine working or Hunting Breed and Even made some go.Exrinct! I believe that the English Staff(depending on the Lines,.not those short fat Westminster Bug-eyed French Bulldog looking garbage) is a Direct Cousin of the APBT and was not doubt bred in some lines way back in the day! But you are.ceratainly a Well Versed Advocate for the English Staffordshire Terrrier! I think it is Not Possible to say Exactly who and what made who and what with all the Dogs that came over to America in waves! But either way that are an Amazing Breed that can do just about anything!
