I for one am just happy to deal with a organization who actually care about more than a cash grab. Raphael has put his heart and soul into this, bringing us something that we have all been able to enjoy for years and will continue to do so for many more. Many, MANY thanks to Raphael and the people at Hinterland. I can't wait to see what the future holds.

Absolutely. In an era of micro transactions and lazy game development, Hinterland are a refreshing change. I don't care if it takes them longer to finish or release certain content, simply because I know they try hard to do right by their playerbase and they have made something incredible with the long dark and I look forward to whatever comes next

Having exposure to the industry professionally, Raph has been rare in that he has protected the team and made sure they didnt need to do the mass layoffs to justify shareholder dividends once the ARR has been generated (as eluded to his 5% YoY change in revenue). I will try anything he and the team feel is the right thing to develop no matter what it ends up as just to reward his ethical stance and the way he runs his studio.

Very well said Hadrian I love the game and will probably buy the next game by Hinterland purely off the back of how supportive of the fan base Hinterland have been, so much has been changed at the request of the players not least of which is most of if not all of the story mode.

Poor Wintermute once again. But I understand the devs calculation here. It even suits me, since I rarely play Wintermute. But damn, I think everyone will be glad when that is finally finished and done with.

I cannot wait for safe house customization. Imagine being able to make mounts and trophies of animals or even build shelves to show off items.

I'm actually very excited about the base customization. I always thought it would be really neat to be able to make the space better if you plan on making it a permanent base. I'm also happy that the cougar is coming back since I took a Hiatus from the game and unfortunately missed the first version of it. I didn't even know that they were adding another animal until a few days ago. I hope they keep adding new animals in the future.

Whyone who is so bothered by wintermute delays/not being 100% focus, not only have a lack of understanding on game making but also should’ve realized it was in the long haul YEARS ago. Such bothersome individuals, I always feel bad for any devs that go through any percentage reacting as such. Anyways… always exciting hearing what’s next and coming. I am so hyped for the store, I was excited last time but alas got my email after things got sold out! I’ve been needing that mug for sososo long!

I was excited to face a new creature when the cougar came out. Realizing it was a glorified status ailment wasn't fun. It was also buggy. I had over 100% protection and it worked when I fought the cougar but right after I killed the cougar I was attacked by a wolf and the wolf gave me the deep lacerations ailment which was really irritating.

He does not say that the new 'frozen shore' region containing Perseverance Mills will be available in survival mode...if not the outcry over the cougar could seem like a storm in a teacup.

That's a good point. That said, I think it's safe to assume that any story related region will end up in sandbox. It's always been the case in the past; I just don't see any reason to expect different here.

The dev diaries says that you can contact the trader through the radio, it does not specify if the radio will be any radio found in the building or the short wave radio that you get on the forsaken airfield

I need to beg to differ w/ you on this. "An enigmatic figure and a voice on the radio" is all the Dev Diary offers about the Trader. That does not say you "contact" him. It doesn't say whether he initiates interactions or you do. Anything beyond what is in that sentence, or what I said in the video, is speculation.

@@HadrianLP True, true. I think it will by radio, like: "this for this, leave it at x, come tomorrow". then you go tomorrow and it will be there, like the forest talkers quests on the history mode. That will satisfy the players that do not want to see another anthropomorphic character in the game

I would LOVE that. In fact, that's kind of what the diary implies. "Enigmatic" kind of indicates that they're mysterious, low-contact individuals. Maybe you're right and you only ever hear them and never see them.

Again we are arguing the wrong topic, it’s the fact that they go quiet and leave us hanging for months. Say something, say anything. If things are running long just pop in to say hi and let us know, it doesn’t take much to make people feel acknowledged. Doesn’t need to be a dev diary, just check in so we know we don’t have to refresh a news page every other day

The only person arguing on this particular comment is you. Also, and I mean this constructively: It sounds like you might need something else to do other than check for updates. You clearly have an opinion you care a lot about, but one that seems grounded on an expectation you have that others might not share. People have different perspectives, not only on whether they support the studio & Raphael's vision, but on what "the problem" is. People also have their own lives, just like the devs; the broader problem, as I said, is people being unnecessarily hard on the team. So let's allow others to have their own take without invading their threads to disagree with them unnecessarily, please.

@@veaseym21 For me personally, Hinterland has always delivered what they said they would deliver in the past, so I am fine to wait and not expect updates on every step they make. I know it will all be done eventually and that they want to have it done as much as I want to have it. When they say they will update around June, I don’t expect an update in June, just that they hope to have news then. When things are added to the list that they didn’t expect(the cougar refresh), I expect they might not have news until later. I don’t take an absence of an update as some big misstep or failing on their part. I take it as they are working hard. I have faith in their team and know they will update when they can. In the meantime I play the game and wait.

@@HadrianLP Sort of, but it was more fiendish. GH is basically unsupported and has been pratically since launch (theres been one update to add bananas!). I feel like Hinterland started with good intentions, but its looking like the same result at the moment. I like a lot of switch players, are left feeling like Hinterland did a cash grab on us, just like GH did

I CANT EMPHASIS THIS ENOUGH -> That is not what people are upset about!!! Maybe it’s just me but I’m fine with waiting as reasonably long as it takes. The problem is. STOP GOING DARK. If it’s been a week or 2 longer past June and you said we would hear something in June pick up your keyboard and type a small few lines to give us some type of communication. It’s simple to do, it’s lazy not to do it. You can do it while sitting on the toilet. You’re lecturing to the wrong audience about the wrong topic. I’d be fine with them giving us anything about the new game or projects while waiting for the current stuff to wrap. I’d take a post note farted into the wind 💨 at this point.

@@HadrianLPalso that sounds like something someone that is better at communicating would be able to provide, knowing this is an existing problem if it was me I would address it and set the expectation of where people could find my communications. This is a common theme for him and I just can’t sit here and listen to someone saying to back off when it is a clear issue with many that I’ve seen expressed over the years. If episode 5 takes 3 more years, so be it. Just keep in touch and let us know when we should be looking to expect to hear something…. Anything, a cat picture, seriously anything. The silence is what is deafening.
