I grew up in Ossining, NY right along the Hudson Line that’s where my love of train’s came from! The vehicle transport cars you have has a interesting story that go along with the old General Motor’s plant being able to use them on the Hudson line! Those train cars are taller than any other train car that’s ever been used on the Hudson line so almost every overpass and train station that was built above the 4 tracks had to be jacked up to accommodate these new taller train car’s. I only lived about 5 minutes up the hill and I watched them jack up the Historic Ossining Station it was a long time ago I don’t know exactly how much they had to raise every overpass but if I had to guess it was like 12” I love how much you’re car carrier’s look just like the ones I saw used on the Hudson Line that carried new vehicles from the Tarrytown to points West South and maybe even into Canada! This is the kicker the plant closed for good only a few years after all of that money and work was put into raising all the structures along the Hudson Line! I’m looking forward to how your new layout is going to look and function when it’s ready for it first scheduled train to hit the main line! It’s looking amazing so far! Happy Holidays to you and your family and careful not to step on the 3rd rail! 🇺🇸🌲🚞🚂

Like you, I got most of the Atlas track, DCS, and many more items from Uncle Ray when I was starting my first layout. My MTH Premier Line UP 4014 was the last locomotive I was able to purchase from him when he was still alive. What are the odds of finding add-on passenger cars from the same catalog?! Wild! One can never have enough coal cars since I have nearly every single NKP hopper made in the past 6 years!

I always enjoy your updates on the progress of the new layout, Jason. Will be very interested in your wiring tutorial and the final placing of the turntable and roundhouse. That was a very impressive shot of the Hudson pulling the 8 heavy weights, a very handsome consist! As always, your video update is excellent and appreciated. Great Scott - had to edit “made” at the beginning of the sentence back to “my” as those pesky little YT busy bees had changed the sentence from what was posted to something else.

Good update and progress. I’m concerned about your MTH BIGBOY. I purchased #4010 in 2017 and it ran about 2 hours before I had to mail it back for repairs and It required repair work twice since then on the pin connector. I also ordered #4014 last March, so waiting with fingers crossed. The quality control leaves a lot to be desired.

@Ryan the CP railfan What is amazing to me is the nonchalant attitude many many modelers have after paying mega bucks for a top of the line BB that has to be sent back almost upon receipt and/or trying to repair it themselves. It should be lube, add smoke fluid, clean the pickup rollers and finally changing the tires only, Case closed. Terrible quality control but complaints seem to fall on deaf ears.

What is the story on DCS parts and supply from MTH? I am just starting out with a new layout and I wanted to use DCS since I have Lionel and MTH engines. @@JDStucks Thanks JD, I really enjoy your videos. I guess I will just have to see how long it takes to get the ones I have on preorder. I am curious how to wire the parts after I get them. The ones I ordered did not indicate whether they had the wires to interconnect them as part of the package. I suspect I will have to get the wires separately and I did not see any separate wiring packages advertised when I prepared my order. I think That is something I need to ask Mr. Muffin about. Thanks again.

@JDStucks3 жыл бұрын
I would start with a Lionel or MTH ready to run set if you plan to stay in O Gauge. If you want realistic track I'd recommend Atlas or gargraves. If you want pre built roadbed people really like Lionel Fast Track. If space is a major issue, HO scale might be a good option too.
