My understanding is that the moment Brodie was traded by Melbourne to Sydney- any commitments by Collingwood are gone because they have no say in the trade and their commitment to Melbourne ends. So Brodie is under a new contract with the Swans and only Melbourne will have possibly negotiated paying part of his salary if required as part of the trade and contract.
