Your vest turned out great. It is funny bc one of the reasons I hesitated to Cast On Stockholm Slipover was the somehow v-neck shaped neckline. So I created my own pattern, knitted bottom up, as it is easier to get shaping right for occasional, personal designs. I have enjoyed seeing Mexico City, very interesting mix of architecture and rich culture.

Your vest looks lovely! And that new pink knit with bulky mohair- sigh! The videos of Mexico City brought back floods of memories from back in 1993-4 when we stayed in a very similar cottage hotel across from the zocollo with a lovely roof top restaurant on the fourth floor (may pie the same hotel). There was a demonstration with 20,000 peasants marching by our hotel and a sound system on the zocollo that could be envied by rock bands. All night there were shouts of viva Zapata! We closed the shutters to dull the noise a bit for sleeping. In the morning when we opened the shutters the pollution from the traffic burst in like breathing right from the exhaust pipe of a million cars. Such a beautiful and authentic Mexican city. I could go back again and again. We were also advised to stay close to the hotel at night or to take reputable taxis for transit. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@littlebigknits2 жыл бұрын
That is a memorable moment indeed!! I didn’t realize the pollution was that bad until someone else complained about their lungs and the I could tell that my nose and lungs were a little unhappy… still an amazing city!

Hi Selma, in Britain we say pukka (pronounced puckah) to mean something which is real and good or genuine. I think the word comes from India, maybe Hindi. Pukka is a British company. Also Twinings is a British company which was started by the Twinings (pronounced Twine ings) family in the seventeenth century! I love my tea too especially Earl Grey and Lapsang Souchong 🥰

Thank you so much Selma for your podcasts (which I have watched since before you had your own podcast). I watch for your videos every 3 wks -month. This time I am particularly grateful for your shots of Mexico City. I have long wanted to visit Mexico, but never will now (in this lifetime). I am particularly thankful for the many architectural shots since it (and botanical gardens) are things which particularly speak to me. Living in easy reach of Washington D.C., architecture is particularly important to me - or at least I notice it a lot. Thank you so much. Also, you almost have me interested in knitting the ranunculas - I have lonngg resisted. I love the blue-green socks as well.
