Tyler has said that their next album will be more like this one. Also, his heaviest lyrics are in his solo album. You can tell in the song "Save" how desperate he was. I'm glad he found music as a release because he definitely could've gone down a dark path as a consequence of all the shit he was going through in his teenage years.

Isle of Flightless Birds is my favorite song that Tyler has ever written, the layers to that song are so amazing. When you pay attention to the metaphor of flightless birds he uses throughout he whole song, it becomes much more haunting and inspiring. Like when he says "I will fly, with no hope no fear", it is so much deeper than what it sounds because flightless birds can't fly, and he is saying that regardless of the the fact the he is comparing himself to a flightless bird, he will "fly with no hope, no fear", he is saying his failure is inevitable, but that he isn't afraid of it so he might as well jump off the isle and attempt to fly rather than wasting his time on that isle where everyone else is the same and "fits molds" just to please everyone else

Yup. Many people think Josh was in the Regional at Best album, and that's partially true. The album came out when Josh was officially the only other member (when TØP became a duo). However, the album was made before he became a member. I think he may have contributed to some last minute small instrumental changes, but nothing else. About Self Titled, this has some of my favorite TØP songs.

Before Josh entered Twenty One Pilots he was in a band called House of Heroes that he even singed in. The only song that I know that he sings in is called If and it's sad because what I heard is that he doesn't sing anymore because one time he got lyrics wrong and the crowd weren't too pleased. I really enjoyed this reaction. Quick piece of advice: If you wanna do Regional At Best and No Phon Intended you should listen to Regional At Best first because No Phun Intended is a whole different level of deep, where in the twenty one pilots albums Tyler uses metaphors and makes it a bit more general his solo album is a lot more direct, a lot more actually not intended for other people, he just wrote it for himself, never even thinking that anyone would hear those songs.

Tyler's first open journal to the world was actually No Phun Intended. He wrote and composed the whole thing at the age of 17. It is by far the most beautiful, important, moving, and heartfelt album out there. He literally pours himself into the lyrics. Please listen to this officially unreleased album on KZbin. I have so far seen all 3 reactions that you have done for TØP (and many other albums 😊) and can't wait for more, thanks for being so attentive during the songs and picking up everything's throughout the music.

This album is on a hole new level, musically. I love the heavier piano influence on this album. All their albums just fill you with feels and emotion. They create a story and do it beautifully, while giving us so many influences from all genres. Andrew Gill someone recently commented it, but it's still a fact that's worth sharing!! I can kind of tell due to some of the production, but that gives it character! I thoroughly enjoyed the listen 😊

I'm so impressed by them for a number of reasons, but the one thing that I keep coming back to is Tyler -- still listed in the OHSAA's top ten for 3 pointers for a season and 3 pointer efficiency, seemingly poured everything he had into playing basketball for his entire childhood, until he stumbles upon a toy piano in a closet when he was 16 or so. And, with zero knowledge of music, or what it meant to "do" music (in an interview, he referred to the piano keys as buttons) began losing his passion for Basketball, decides to pivot toward "doing" music, and a few years later you have this collection of songs. I don't say this to diminish the amount of hard work it most certainly required, but to try to get an understanding of how truly gifted he is. It's pretty remarkable. I've kept my eye on them from the time I first heard of them in 2013 for obvious reasons, but I've always rooted for them because they grew up very near where I lived when going to Ohio State. It would have been around the same time he must've been trying to get the "buttons" to sound like the Beatles songs on the radio :). If you see the evolutionary leaps from album to album, it seems pretty clear that these two are just sort of figuring things out and are just getting started. I like to think of them as "Defiantly Undefinable" -- purposely daring the uninitiated to hear 2 mins of a couple singles and think they know what the band is all about. :) BTW, great job with these! Your authenticity is both apparent and appreciated.

This is my favorite album ever. I discovered it about 4 years ago. “Taxi Cab” and “March to the Sea” are my favorites and Tyler’s lyrics are what need to be heard. He is speaking truth and bringing awareness to mental health. He makes it so prominent to know that it’s ok to not be ok, but it’s not ok to stay that way. Fighting inner demons, surviving suicidal thoughts, discussing religion without throwing faith down people’s throats, incredible vocals, synth-pop vibes, and instrumental talent. It has it all. They deserve more recognition.

I love this album because you can feel them finding their sound, the experimentation, the way tyler changes his vocal delivery mid-song, not to mention between songs. it's just a super interesting listen with a lot of character and heart. You really need to react to No Phun Intended. It's an album Tyler released himself when he was 17. It honestly just blew my mind the first time I heard it because it had the same tone and meaningfulness that TØP has today. Then there was also Taco Bell Saga, which was pretty funny and showed Tyler's sense of humor 😂. Tyler has been an amazing singer and songwriter since he was very young, and has obviously dealt with a lot more than we know. Anyway it's just a really inspiring album to me and I would love to hear your thoughts. Keep up the great reactions!!

I think you had to live in Ohio to know about TOP for the first album. It was a self released thing, and even those they had a rabid following from the beginning, it was locally at first. They attracted major label attention bc they were regularly selling out this local arena of several thousand ppl. When big names were coming through, they weren't selling out the same place.

I just came back to this. There are reasons why this is my favorite album by these guys. The songs aren't very predictable, they're so emotional and so deep. They really show what kind of a life Tyler was living, and I can relate to him (though not completely, if you know what I mean). I struggle with loneliness and my faith, and this album helps me cope with things and basically tells me, "Hey. You're not alone, because there are people that are struggling with the same stuff as you." The musicality of this one is just...beautiful, and so unpredictable. I love the metaphors and stories Tyler can tell with his music and words. It really inspires me to make music as well.

I dont know if you know this yet or if it was mentioned to you yet, but its one of the main aspects that i love about Twenty one pilots. Both Tyler and Josh are christians, and a lot of their songs have aspects from there faith. Theyve managed to integrate it into their continued production. Selftitled they were more open about especially with songs like Implicit demand for proof and march to the sea, but as they continued they made it less obvious. When you go through their other albums and songs you can make out this aspect quite a bit, for example like in vessel screen had direct calls to worshipping god, or on blurryface with the judge and goner. Of course there are other songs with this integration but its really unique how they manage to continue this aspect even with their growth of popularity. It shows there loyalty to who they were from the begging and i just love the calls to God that they make through their music. Whether or not you are religious, I still think that this aspect is something to highly appreciate, especially with how poetic he does it.

Even though I'm anti-religion, I don't have a problem with people speaking on their faith. Just as long as they don't use their faith to justify discrimination or cruelty of any kind. So I definitely agree on the poetic nature that Tyler integrates his faith in his lyrics. 😌

I feel like this one, and others, are very honest reactions, and I appreciate that. I didn't know if you knew what March to the Sea was about. The main parts about "were dying with every step we take" and standing in a line, it's about animals called Lemmings. Every year they line up and walk off a cliff and kill themselves. And he's relating that to his Christianity, like when he talks about the sky. How he won't follow the line and he'll follow God.
