Thank you Prof. McCulloch for choosing 'Spem in Alium' by Thomas Tallis for the end of podcast takeaway. One extraordinary piece of music indeed.

Interesting that Cromwell and Lady Mary were allies, and Cromwell and Anne Boleyn were actually enemies. I've always thought the opposite. One thing I know for sure; Henry was a complete PSYCHO!!

I blame Cromwell quite a bit for Anne’s downfall, however, when you are working for a monster like Henry, I guess he can’t take all the blame. I just think that Anne died probably because of Cromwell. I don’t know if Henry would have wanted Anne dead if the charges against her weren’t so damaging to his ego. I think Cromwell wanted to make sure Anne was completely out of the picture… he recognized a formidable foe when he saw one.

In my opinion Anne got what she deserved. I’ve never understood this veneration of this callous woman. Catherine of Aragon has never had that emphasis - a clever and loyal woman who was treated abominably.
