You don't stop smelling bad when you quit deodorant, you just acclimate to the stench. Your brain just tunes it out. A couple of my friends stopped using deodorant for a while in the 90s when the new wave, crystal healing woowoo was getting big. They thought it was great and they stopped smelling but we literally couldn't be in a car with them without retching. They WOULD NOT believe us either. They were convinced they didn't smell. As a mathematician, I have absolutely the opposite experience. What I love so much about math is that it's basically like a puzzle of logic. Yes, it's not per se connected to irl stuff directly, but a puzzle isn't either but it's still fun. There is stuff to memmorize everywhere, but at the end of the day you can always derive the things with definitions and logic. And if you *prove* something in general, you know it will 100% always work, which can't be said in other fields. Just putting random functions in Desmon is so fun. Also fun fact: √-1 actually exists. I agree with chemistry tho, haha.

100%. I’m really into history, geopolitics, archeology and such matters but one thing that can be really annoying at times is the speculation. Whilst the speculation adds a lot of value to these fields, sometimes it’s just so frustrating not being able to arrive at a definitive answer. Same goes for politics for a lot of people 🙄

I live in a single bedroom apartment, so what I do is I just have a futon mattress that I lay out on top of a huge carpet in the middle of the room every night. Then , in the mornings I HAVE TO roll up the mattress out of the way and I have so much space because there's no bedframe occupying half of my room. This is the japanese way, and it's absolutely superior to any other sleeping arrangement. It's healthier, and it maximizes space, and forces you to be 'responsible'...

Regarding deodorant I have just discovered that we are using it wrong. Instead of applying it during the morning after you get up and go to school/work, you have to apply it BEFORE you go to sleep. That way it gets absorbed and does its job during the day. I read this in an article about it, and it really works.

The Poland thing is so shitty. It's patently obvious that it's the interest of industry owners in coal mines that are the cause of the tiff. Why this is rediculous is that there's actual genuine other concerns over the plan. No, solving climate change isn't a matter of will. Take for example do bannana grow everywhere? Could Poland base its economy on banana plantations? Why is this relevant? Well the same factors that mean that Poland is not so suitable for bananas means it's ALSO not so suitable to solar and wind power. The sun literally does not shine as brightly in Poland as in Iraq. (This is not even addressing the fact that you need the most energy at night in winter .. ) the same could be said for wind. It's not equally windy everywhere. Then on top of that these energy sources are inconsistent so you have to provide backup power generation, which means a coal fire burning 24/7 to keep the boilers ready to suddenly spool up power anyway. A fair alternative is nuclear but the eu is against that. Though it does seem that nuclear has the spool up and down problem as well meaning it wastes large volumes of energy often.
