Lyrics
I do my best but everything seems ominous
Not feeling blessed, quite the opposite
This shouldn’t feel so monotonous
It never rains but it pours
We’re just a bunch of fucking animals
But we’re afraid of the outcome
Don’t cry to me because the fiction that we’re living in
Says I should pull the pin
Should I just pull the pin?
I dug my heels
I thought that I could stop the rot
The ground gave way
Now I’ve lost the plot
Fucked it again
That was all I’ve got
It never rains but it pours
Life is just a dream within a….
Buried under dirt
A diamond in the mud
Infinity is waiting there
‘Cause nobody can burn a glass cathedral
….dream within a dream within a….

Epitaph Records is an artist-first indie label founded in Los Angeles by Bad Religion guitarist, Brett Gurewitz. Early releases from a variety of punk heavyweights helped launch the 90s punk explosion. Along the way, Epitaph has grown and evolved creatively while sticking to its mission of helping real artists make great recordings on their own terms.

The golden age of music?! This song is good, I grant you, and contemporary. However, music is fucked due to streaming, etc. New musicians have very little chance these days to make any money. It's not exactly a sound career choice, even if you're incredibly talented. And then they closed the venues...
@baritonecult622
@baritonecult622 4 жыл бұрын
@@benmread I agree w you 100 percent. How bout the golden age for making music. Im a musician but also a long time business owner (non music). If your in a band you need spread sheets, business plan, all of it. Being in a band , unfortunately needs to be run like a business. I get it musicians want to play music but if i wanted to make money i would have an outside business and have it generating money within a year. Im trying to make this short, i could probably do a long video on this. 2 yrs ago, one of my employees was given a recording deal-contract. I told him let my wife look over it, she's an attorney. She did and advised him not to go w it. Its brutal in the business world but you can be or do your own business very easily these days. Internet has all the free marketing you could ever want. Cheers

It's not about being heavy or not, it's about not being basic or generic. Metal is different because it's either technical or has effort put into it, not "Riff A > Riff B > Riff A > Riff B" for an entire song like pop/"mainstream" stuff. This one falls into the latter, unfortunately.

Architects have said ages ago that Tom wanted a more bio - instrumental sound for architects. Massive electronic influence with gritty guitars. What’s the point in doing yet another album that sounds the same? They made a fucking PERFECT album in Holy Hell. But now it’s time to look to the FUTURE and evolve into something new. This is a single that’s supposed to grab our attention and boy has it done that with a punch. I quite like this sound and it’s made me excited for what’s to come I look forward to what they have hidden away from us, screams aren’t the be all and end all of music and if you think that it’s time to get an open mind and explore outside the genres.

i agree with everything, but doing something new is different than doing what all bands/singers are now doing, is just the yungblud/bmth/while she sleeps formula but with the architects flavour personaly love it, but im pretty sure that this kind of songs wouldnt age half as good even as hollow crown

I personally love this new single.... yeah it's got no screaming but that doesn't bug me.. that main guitar riff tho.. awesome. I appreciate good song writing and emotion. Something Architects have mastered years ago and I'd say the direction of the last album should've told ya this is where they were going with new material, at least the singles...this only makes me even more excited.

Now I've had a day to process it and have a look at opinions on the song I thought I'd leave my thoughts here for anyone that cares to read them. You have to remember this is their first ever time writing anything with a completely new process without any input what so ever from Tom (Holy Hell being written mainly based off ideas he left behind). I believe Dan has written alot of this album and he never bothered with song writing before Tom died so this album was bound to sound different. Also they are at that point as a band where they can either evolve their sound to be slightly more mainstream and start playing REALLY big shows (like bring me) or just keep churning out stuff with the same niche sound and watch their fanbase age and slowly drop off. I think personally they are doing it in the right way and the album is still gonna be full of sick riffs and fingers crossed a wee "blegh" tucked in there. Yes Sam could have just sang that chorus in his usual super unique high scream/shout but the way it's been done really highlights the power and versatility in his actual singing voice in a way we've never really heard before. I think this release is perfect and there's going to be alot more to come both different and heavy but at the same time more anthemic and stadium sing along based. Do you all forget the band's main riff+lyric writer tragically passed away after Sam and him locking themselves away and pouring their souls into AOGHAU. The fact this band even continued in any way is a blessing to us all. Everyone saying "UhH MuH BrInG mE tHe ArChItEcTs" please just stop. Your opinion is just close minded and not required.

If i think that this is a fucking copy of a BMTH song is not close mindness. It’s a fact. And i hate it cause i love their sound in the last two albums. But i’m not offending anyone, so Who are you to tell to other people that their opinion is not required?
