I had the same reaction to the official Elgato announcement video when the guy assigned a _single song_ to a button. Not what I'd call useful, but I'm hoping they'll put out a music player soon enough.

12:28 You can actually paste the folder structure into filename field at the bottom and then when you hit enter you end up into desired folder so you don't have browse through each and every folder by clicky-clicky-clicking nor care about the ancient file explorer.

If I had to hazard a guess, I think the reason they made their own file type was to essentially add a layer of complexity in case someone wanted to repackage and sell their sound bites and songs. One of the reasons you want to use CC share alike or similar is to avoid someone redistributing your stuff for a price when the intention was for them to be freely available.

Wait... 15:00 please correct me if I misunderstand the issue, but if I make a media player playlist file *.wpl, and assign the launch key to open that playlist file... that playlist plays.

Sure. But your media player probably isn’t playing the .streamDeckAudio files

@@EposVox Not today, but I don't see why it matters... it's not the only format, other players will have the codec eventually, and Stream Deck will probably add that feature. The point was, I've been using playlists on my stream deck since it came out. But to also touch on the release of this audio, while nice, it isn't really that big of a deal, especially if it is proprietary. I will dig into the media and comment back with what I find... it's worth testing for sure.

And MY point was specifically the music downloads being provided aren’t super useful if you can’t play them as a group for your stream. The .streamDeckAudio files aren’t some new music format that media players are ever going to add support for. It’s something specific to this device. So unless they add their own media player functionality, that’s never going to work.

@@EposVox Not as epically challenging as I had hoped but these files can all be downloaded and played in any media player/playlist. Not sure why they did what they did to the local file, but the audio is there too and quite intact... just a little garbage added to make it smell funny.

Guys could do with some help here as don’t seem to be getting any from the official Elgato folks. 2 small things. 1. I have put a music button on my stream deck as the basic new 5.0 shows you. And indeed it works great. Problem 1., I have a wave 1 mic. The music audio plays very loud in my “stream” on the wavelink, so I turned it down a touch. Last night chat told me it’s very, very quite, so my first problem is why does it sound so loud in my wavelink, but my viewers telling me it’s not🤷‍♂️. 2. Can’t believe there isn’t good tutorials on this one, or if there is I missed them. How do I get(can be one off the 5.0 SD) an audio sound effect, just something like a whoosh, between all my screen transitions, all my transitions work nice on my streamdeck, but I can’t figure out how to get and audio on the transition.

I love the new Icon Library. What would make it even better is importing your own icon packs. So many good third-party packs exist already.

So I did some digging and it is possible to add your own icon packs, although currently it's not very user-friendly. Icon packs are stored in appdata > Roaming > Elgato > StreamDeck > IconPacks, and you can manually install packs here, if they're made appropriately.

Desk mat size for the rest of the world: 80x30cm. Which is a good size, just enough space for a full size keyboard and an adequate mousing space, or a TKL and generous mousing space. Not too big for even most small desks, not so deep that it would push the monitor back. Also shipping to EU (slow mode) is impressively affordable!

Hi i am using stream deck with obs and i have a small animation that i want to activate a various times during my stream, i have a button in the stream deck connected to a source in obs with two states, but when i press on and the animation is finished the button stay at the on state is there a way to make the button go to the off state after the animation is finished?

Could you Multitask them? As in have a button where it plays the songs in a order you make. Then just make a few of them in different orders or make different ones for different moods. Then just label them the mood.

You could but you have to manually slot in each song and delays based on the song length - very tedious by hand. They just need a media player

I found the same odd short falls that you pointed out yesterday upon install. You are big inspiration (aside from Caleb).. I have a few aspiring content creation questions - Video: You recorded the A roll on cameras SD card, and OBS to record your desktop, then threw both video files into the editor? Audio: You recorded your voice directly to external recorder or GOXLR to OBS tied the the desktop video file?

Camera went to Ninja V, desktop to Ninja Inferno, audio to Audition.

I been recording my talking parts using OBS since stream cam is already being captured via hdmi to OBS & voice same way goxlr to OBS.. so that leaves me with 1 file to work with.. basically just tapping “record” instead of “stream” on OBS, but I end up doing a million takes for VODs. I knew there had to be better way!

Recording direct to OBS is generally going to be a more efficient workflow. I don’t because I’m generally also recording OBS anyway, which gets messy, and because I’m having platform issues with constant framerate drops with capture cards that I can avoid by capturing earlier in the chain

@@EposVox makes total sense for you. You literally need this setup. I also love the other benefits of having sharper captures using Ninja. So the only thing going directly to your PC is microphone to Audition.. are you still using goxlr to power the mic? Converting the garage to Studio in a few months, so all these tips are amazingly helpful.

Hdmi out of the camera Ninja still runs to capture card for streams and lazy recordings. Main mic runs through audient evo 4 just b/c I like what I can do with different audio plugins better than goxlr’s processing but I use GoXLR for secondary mics or my headset mic for AFK Chat etc

@EposVox . I own a stream deck XL and a couple days ago a Loupedeck Live because of the dials features.. I spent so much time on trying to setup some keysettings on it. And Elgato released this insane game changer update.. Makes me want to buy a second Streamdeck XL but, is it possible to use 2 streamdeck on a single PC?

@@EposVox So basicly setting up multiple sound tracks on different buttons overides and play 2 songs at the same time. To overcome this nuisance you have to setup a multi-action buton. But sadly no more interactive visual on the button

Here's hoping that the guy's over at Elgato will take this feedback on board and implement a music player functionality into the stream deck at some point in the very near future. 😆👍👍 Speaking of music playing, I think that a 🎶Now Playing🎶 plug-in would be a really cool way to compliment and use alongside the music integration. Granted I'm not entirely sure on how difficult it would be to code/develop but I for one would absolutely use it. Cheers to you, my man! 🍻 P.S. I have a old lap top. But upgraded the RAM to the max so it is now 8GB DDR3. Cheap capture card as well. But the main problem is capturing racing games for low end consoles like recently I got Pole Position 2 for Atari 7800. Frame rates are bad or pausing or whatever. I didn't upload the videos yet. I really don't want to upload them. Some pausing and what not. Had the same problem before the two updates for the OBS for playing PS3 Socom Confrontation shooter game. Screen tearing. I know if you get the bit rates and what not wrong you barely record 50 seconds of video. I have a Gateway NE56R31u Intel B830 Intel HD graphics 8GB DDR3 RAM now was 4GB. 320GB HDD. Would adding a external hard drive help to collect videos? Less of the hard drive fighting. But then i'd have to use the external one I use for XBOX1 as well. I don't have to reformat it each time swapping it back in forth do I? I might try using a external hard drive.

If Elgato makes a store front for TouchPortal, Loupdeck and any other companies in the future to use plugins, sounds etc. Then they would really start making money at one point... given that the trend continues (at least a little). But... let's hope that does not happened as the StreamDeck 2 in that case, would be like Half-Life 3.
