This set of 6 custom tap handles was an incredible challenge in sequencing and figuring out what steps could or couldn't happen before the next one so I could end up with a certain final look. These tap handles were made for an awesome 6 tap kegerator that my buddy built. They are made from spalted beech wood with an epoxy inlay that contains a red die along with a tangerine iridescent powder that really made these what they are. The lines in the front of the taps correspond to the number of the tap from 1 through 6. These were so much fun to make, I hop you enjoy the build half as much!

Wow, very nice work. Although, I would not have bothered cutting the corners off on the table saw before putting them on the lathe. Seems like an extra step to me. Perhaps a spindle roughing gouge is in order? Beautiful results regardless!
@JackmanWorks
@JackmanWorks 7 жыл бұрын
For just 1 I probably wouldn't, but for this set of 6 it's totally worth it. That's a lot of extra material that is removed so you don't have to turn it down. Also, the initial cuts are then less aggressive and it's easier to get round.

Nice technique on the tops with the epoxy. I wondered how you did that when I saw photos. I know that feeling when you start out with the epoxy and you and all exact and clean. Smash cut to it being everywhere and you are rubbing it in with gloved hands.
