ePropulsion Navy 6.0 Evo on Rowing Solutions RS CAT16 on Lake Ballinger (again)

More testing of the ePropulsion Navy 6.0 Evo electric outboard motor. Added anti-ventilation plate, which allowed returning the trim angle to neutral.
Speeds matched those of the previous outing, but now the motor can be raised back to the stock transom height, which should pick up a bit more speed.

That things cruising. Fastest moving boat I've seen in that lake. I live just up the street by city hall. Maybe I'll see ya down there when the weather clears up. Lake was flooded up over the dock the other day after the snow lol

Nice motor you got there! ;-) We just got the cavitation plate and are hoping that it gives us more grip at shallower depths.

Thanks Mark & Coutts! Besides the cavitation plate, you also want to be able to try different transom heights. Hopefully you saw ePropulsion's "Anti-Grounding Mode", where the motor will tip up when it hits an obstacle, reducing the impact. You just can't reverse hard in that mode. I have a few improvements in the works for Electra, and will likely post more testing videos soon.

@@bobkart Yeah, we have ours on an adjustable mount made by marinetech. It says panther on it. We used anti grounding mode for awhile, and it worked great. Then one day, we forgot to put it in the mode, and SNAPPED off the bracket. So now we're permanently in beach mode. It sucks. :-)

Did you measure your maximum speed?

I got into the 20.x km/h range. So between 12.5 mph and 13.0 mph.

Thank you. Does that box hanging down look the same as the front to divert the flow of water ?

@@siteslikeadmin1457 It's narrow at the front (like a wedge), and a bit shorter. So it pushes the water both down a little bit, and to each side of the lower unit. I actually have that piece off at the moment and top speeds are virtually identical. I do see more spray from the lower unit that way. Its purpose is to stand in for a transom, and was likely made that wide for a typical 10hp-20hp gas outboard motor. The ePropulsion lower unit is much narrower, so it doesn't need that much water diversion. I may revisit this part with a narrower version some day.
