This is not available in the App Store. you can get it at avalonweb.com.au/ with the code MDVR. You can get a version for your android phone as well.

Can this app be installed directly to the quest 2 headset or does it need a pc with the headset connected?

You need to plug it into the computer to get the software onto the device and for all updates because it is under the developer part of the quest, but once that part is done you don't need to connect it anymore. IT is awesome.

My son has a refractive difference. He drives plays hockey. Does great he's been through vision therapy. My concern is if he tries this will it make his vision blurry if the eyes start to work together I've always been intrigued by this possibility though of improvement in stereopsis

Was he successful in vision therapy? You could definitely ask his optometrist what they thought about it. There are some very central activities that wouldn't be good if he never achieved central fusion, but there are also great peripheral fusion type activities that would be great. It's hard to say without being the doctor though.
