Thank you SO much for this vid. I’ve had strabismus my whole life. Surgery in my early 20’s to correct. Then I started having double vision and eye turn again in my mid 30’s. I was fortunate enough to be able to do vision therapy for a year using vivid vision. I saw 3D for the first time in my LIFE using the vivid vision VR. I didn’t even know what I was seeing at first, (Or what I had been missing.) I had another eye surgery and another year of therapy. But now it’s 5 years later and my eyes aren’t as strong as they were. I can’t afford more therapy- so I went looking for a vid like this. Thank you thank you from a fellow strabismus sister. I also read Sue’s book. I bawled my eyes out the first time I watch snow fall after I could see 3D.

Wow, that is amazing! Revisiting those old exercises is a great way to help reset your brain and eyes again! Have you seen my Mastering Peripheral course? I think it would be perfect for you! learn.strabismussolutions.com/mastering-peripheral-vision

I am so relieved that you have presented these options! I really hope this will make it to where I won't have to buy custom contacts with prisms for $3k! MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Thank you so much for this. I am looking forward to trying the apps. Just one thing I would like to add for clarity. Strabismus and amblyopia are not interchangeable words. They are different things.

Yeah i've always had amblyopia in both eyes without any sign of strabismus.

Thank you for this! What about Tetris via Oculus Quest 2? A Canadian study was done using Tetris some time ago… Thanks!
@strabismustostereopsis779911 ай бұрын
Tetris is great, but it's a little too difficult for me at this point when each eye can only see one part of the blocks. It's a very central activity. I prefer peripheral fusion activities because they don't mess with fusion. My course can help with that learn.strabismussolutions.com/mastering-peripheral-vision

Do you cover your strong eye while doing beat saber? I have supernatural in the meta quest which is almost the same so I'd use that.
@strabismustostereopsis77992 ай бұрын
No, I just try to be very peripherally aware to make sure both eyes are engaged. I do have a few VR apps that I use that blur out some parts for the stronger eye.

I thought I Had to spend months and thousands of Dollars for a therapy if that is even available at my country. It those Apps with a VR Headset actually work that would be fantastic

It is still best to work with a developmental optometrist, but having these types of apps can make it only necessary for monthly visits instead of weekly which can save on the cost!
@SnoopFroggNFT Жыл бұрын
How do you know which optometrists are approved to be able to get an Rx for vivid vision and optics trainer?
@strabismustostereopsis7799 Жыл бұрын
Most developmental optometrists can gain access to optics trainer. If you are outside the USA you can use the search function on Vivid Vision's website. If you go to strabismussolutions.com/findvt/ I can direct you towards a developmental optometrist.

Which applications on the meta market would you recommend for lazy eye? My left eye sees between 20% and 30%. My right eye sees 100%.

I just found you, and I think you have reinvigorated my vision journey. I live in the butt end of Africa - no VT here lol I could get Quest and work with my optometrist [also might contact Vision For Life(Dr Julie youtube)] I read Sue Barry's book. She she says the only thing worse than "false hope" is "false hopelessness" - wow Thanks so much for these videos!

That is fantastic! There are not a lot of options in Africa, I have searched but come up pretty empty. If you are close to Spain there are some AMAZING offices, but distance or VR may be your best bet. Good luck! You can schedule a call with me if you want some help getting going in the right direction. app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=24182829

Have you noticed an improvement in acuity since using VR for your lazy eye?
@strabismustostereopsis7799 Жыл бұрын
I actually already had pretty good acuity before starting so I can't give an opinion on that. I noticed more differences with my 3D (stereo vision) when using VR.

I am an adult and while I've never been diagnosed with Strabismus or Amblyopia I have poor spatial perception. I have always had terrible hand-eye coordination for sports. More importantly I think poor spatial perception is adversely affecting my driving. Did you notice improvement in your driving?
@strabismustostereopsis7799 Жыл бұрын
That is the #1 place I have seen improvements with my vision! Driving with eye coordination is life changing! Go to learn.strabismussolutions.com for some resources to help you get started.

the length of time definitely depends on what your optometrist recommends. I used it for 6 months and then started to plateau so I stopped then.

Hey there i recently had strabismus surgery and struggling a bit with double vision. I Happen to buy the new meta quest 3 and suddenly realised it can be used to help improve lazy eye. I currently have some double vision adter surgery which my doctor told me will eventually go away. What ive noticed is with the meta quest the double visuon goes away. Do you think i should keep using it will it make the real world double vision go away?
@strabismustostereopsis7799 Жыл бұрын
In theory, yes, but you would probably benefit from more focused vision therapy. The app, Equal Eyes, is a great one that you could get on your quest. avalonweb.com.au/ code MDVR

Hello, I've been struggling with strabismus from early infantile years, I was born with strabismus and it initially appeared as a convergent concommitant strabismus, and I had a surgery in my toddler years, was prescribed glasses but I never wore them and threw them away, then my eyes started to move outwards and I developed exotropia (Divergent concommitant strabismus) Then I've had another strabismus surgery when I was 10 to correct my diverging eye, which is my weak eye (left eye) but the doctor wanted me to patch but I did not do as prescribed once again and I've been living with amblyopia, diplopia and strabismus this entire time, I've lastly seen this one ophthalmologist and she said that I would never be able to correct my double vision even if I were to undergo surgery and patch my eye, it would only be an aesthetic surgery, the vision rate of my eyes is 3/10 for left and 7/10 for right eye. I feel very depressed and sad for this reason that there is no cure for it, that my partially blind weaker eye causes me this problem. Hope some innovations are yet to come to solve this issue in similar cases. P.S: I am 23 years old.
