rare has this vibe that's almost undescribable, there's an aspect of this sad and hazy nostalgia, but also a sense of hope because awsten thinks they're rare but in reality that's not true, and it makes me so sad that awsten was so devastated that they weren't the person he thought they were. every time I listen to this song there's such a mix of emotions, but mainly that sad nostalgia and it makes the song so much more touching, I seriously love this song so much.

I look at it as the person was rare in the moment and what they had was real at the time. I think her ego and need to find more/better got in the way, she probably has realized she messed up years back, but yeah it's a comforting song I love the vibe also! I kind of judged Waterparks and thought Awsten had no substance and was shallow, but he actually has a lot to say in the music and is very sincere
