This is a helpful video and I want to try it in the future with my horse! Also, I was shown another thing that works good with your horse, similar to the red light green light. It teaches the horse that you are in this together, kind of? So, you basically just have them in a grassy area and you just let them graze, but you choose a spot you want to graze in and lead them there, and then reward them when they stop. Then the horse picks a place next, then you do. And you just keep doing that really for as long as you like. ❤️

My horse (well, she's not technically mine, but I've put more work into her in the 9 years that I've known her (she's 12) than anyone else ever has, she's utterly convinced that she's mine, and her owners have told me they might let me buy her - I've honestly wanted to buy her since she was 4) and I are working on the follow the leader one (we're not quite solid enough on it to go to a trot (I've tried a few times, but we're just not there yet) - we're currently at a walk only; we are working on backing up, though, both with me walking forward toward her as well as me walking backward), as well as the hugging one from the last video. I've only done it once, but the one where you teach the horse to pick up its feet when tapped in a certain spot, she picked up on that one really quickly. The scratching their favorite spots has also been a bonding activity I've been utilizing - she used to only be comfortable showing her negative emotions, but once I found her favorite spots to be scratched and praised her every time she showed that she liked it, she started showing her positive emotions more, which has been really fun to see. I've also done the weaving around obstacles (on lead for sure, can't remember if we've ever done it off - maybe once or twice??) She likes to play hard to get (it sometimes took 5 minutes or more to catch her), but as soon as I started taking the extra time (I don't often have it because I'm only out there 2 afternoons/week on a good week (recently it's been only one), but when I do, I take it) to spend playing with her in the round pen (the only suitable space we have for that sort of thing) back in the early summer, she has been massively easier to catch, even standing still for me most of the time, and, on rare occasions, actually walking toward me when I go out to get her (she had basically never walked toward me for catching before that, so that was huge). She does tend to flip out at a tarp that's on the trail (put there, and half buried with sediment, where the trail crosses a gully to prevent the entire trail from washing out from erosion) - she used to jump it, but I've gotten her to where she'll walk it, yet she doesn't care when a tarp is lifted over her and strapped down (she's one of the best pack horses we have), so I'd like, at some point, to work with her on stepping over tarps to see whether it's tarps in general, or just the one on the trail, which she has been walking across since she was 2 (and for years she didn't used to have a problem with it, which is what kind of weirds me out).

I just had a pretty nasty fall on a school horse. He was bit by a spider on his private parts😳 the poor thing was really upset. I fell like I want to keep riding him so he understands that there are no hard feelings. He did what any animal would do.

is really like to do some exercise/playing with my horse using ground poles but she hates them! before I got her, someone was having her jump three oxers together at around 4 years old. I've tried to reintroduce her to the ground poles just as something to walkover and just look at but every time she freaks out and is hard to calm back down. any ideas on what I can do???

This is AWESOME!! Just one question… I how can I reward my horse when she doesn’t like any treats? Like she LITERALLY just won’t eat them I have tried peppermints, I have tried apples, I have tried treats that are made for horses, but she doesn’t like ANY of them. So how can I tell her she did it right when she doesn’t like any treats?

Hello! 🙂 First of all you have a beautiful horse and Tucker is so sweet. My question to you is, do you give your horse massages like around the hips and on the backbone and around the neck area around the top of the head? If so I would like to know how you do it so I can do that to the horses we have on our farm. And the other thing is, do you think it's okay for a horse to play with a beach ball? Just asking. Thank you and God bless.
