My current favorite is an 18 year old light bay mare. She’s about 18 hh and so absolutely gorgeous. She’s like a draft in nature-mellow, careful and yet does have a tendency to try and misbehave because she knows just how strong she is. Pity she’s so old though, workouts make her muscles hurt, otherwise I probably would’ve had a chance to ride her more often.

That doesn’t normally bother me, unless they start acting like a know-it-all or interrupting your stories and facts to say some meaningless unrelated crap about the horses. For example: “I was on a trail ride once and the horse wouldn’t walk through the creek.” “Oh yeah horses -“ “He obviously didn’t wanna get wet.” “...if you’d let me finish you’d know horses have terrible depth perception.” “Well he probably also didn’t wanna get wet. He hates water. I could tell.” Or: “So I was with my horse -“ “I saw a horse once!” “...ok great. So I was grooming him -“ “Horses are beautiful.” “...yeah. So I was saying -“ “I’d really like to ride some day.”

I was mocked for being a ‘city girl’ and never made one friend in the horse community. As funny as some jokes are, Making fun of people for not having horse experience is just immature , horses are large and can be intimidating to people with no experience ... let’s share knowledge and show his wonderful the world of horses can be . 2:22 My friend acts like that too! Like, she'll say "I've ridden before! I was galloping!" Like gurl, riding is NOT about being able to sit on a horse without falling off! Riding is about being able to control and understand a horse, and sometimes straight-up expect getting thrown off. Edit: Even though I've kept on telling her she can't ride (I've seen her riding she does everything wrong.) she still gets offended and still keeps saying that "I'm also a rider." I'm getting so enraged at her sometimes.

Wait you forgot the part where they say “so where is the dirt stable?” One of my lessons asked this and it took me 10min to figure out what she was talking about- if you don’t know what she was saying she was talking about the arena

Ha ha ha that was so funny when she was trying to lift up the hoof. Actually the whole episode was funny. It reminded me back when I , as an assistant, was helping a beginner on the trail ride who was only about a third grader said, help my horse is running away !! and actually the horse was walking slowly toward the grass. I told her she has control over the course.

I was waiting for that tack one! I recently restarted riding lessons after about 15 years, and when I mentioned to my husband that I need to go to the tack store for supplies he asked, "To Michael's...?" xD (For those outside the U.S., Michael's is a major arts and crafts store)

My mother in law came to a show to watch my daughter ride and she said some crackers. She told me the rising to the trot looked like a work out and she preferred the style of riding where you just sit. Like how she "used to ride". She also couldnt understand what the judge was looking for in the trotting category and asked if it was about speed.

I wear beige around the yard because I genuinely don't mind it getting dirty, if I have a show I'll wash it & don't kid me that if I wore black clothes to word that were caked in mud, people wouldn't notice. Today I was wearing black trousers & I didn't even go to the stables, I was cycling along the trail & part of it was blocked by a rockfall so I had to go around. The diversion was muddy & I got it on me. When I made it into work, people asked where I'd been. I wasn't wearing anything white.
