I think it is a great idea to share how your partner is beginning with horses. Im also a total newbie so this is helping me a lot, because most videos assume that you already know certain things about horses, but as a noob, you know NOTHING. I would love to see a video on how to no longer fear horses, especially of them kicking you with their hind legs. Im so afraid of this, even though my little mare seems to like me. I cannot see myself ever doing her back hooves...

I love your videos. They are the right length and not over complicated for beginners. Tucker is great.' I just wanted tp remind you all the importance of working both sides of your horse', especially stretching. I just wanted a mention for training. Have fun.

Tucker is so chill. Lol. With the flexion, or anything where you need to keep one part of their body still and the horse has never done it, you can use the wall or fence line to block their movement from going where you don't want it. So with this flexion, if Tucker had never been taught how to give in that flexion and he was moving his body around the forehand instead, you could bring him up along the fenceline and try flexing in that way so that if he does move his back legs, he ends up going into the fence instead, and it takes away one of his options.

I am new to horses so this felt good to watch. I have a 17 yr old quarter horse and we rescued a 5 year old paint. Both mares. Question though. Both my horses walk into the pressure when I shake the lead rope. How do I get them to back up????
@KymLikesGames
@KymLikesGames 8 ай бұрын
Think of it like all of the parts of your horse like doors to a house - if you don't want your horse to walk forward, find a way to close that door. So if they step forward when you wiggle the rope, have a lunge whip ready and wave it in front of you and in front of them (you don't have to touch them with it, but you can just wave it in front of them so they know that the "Forward" door is closed. So the only other option is to back up instead.

I have a young colt, 1 year and 6 months old. Reason to ask is that he is normally very anxious, quite over reactive. Loves to try to nip on the sleeve etc Can rear and buck on a play motion etc Can happen as well when leading Very difficult to make him back up, he can do it but most of the time he would just rear and jump on a fufferent side not close to me or my husband. Very tricky to train him. Would you give some additional sort of advice what we can try If there is a whats app mobile number or viber app I would be so greatful to have a chat to that lovely lady, I cam send videos and photos to give an idea to an instructor what kind of colt I have got, please no one will help, and I hope you will 🙏

I see you’ve been asking for several months now What you’ve described mostly sounds like play behavior. Maybe try her videos about respect.
@Alisainwonderland94

@@DustyHoney Nipping on the sleeve when I am in the stable, sometimes Nipping is becoming quite rough, so I hardly doubt this is a play. I ve been following many instructors videos and even read books on those topics but I need a professional to give an advice And rearing and bucking while he is in the field trying to aim at me or my husband even when bringing him water while he is there showing Aggression May be for some people it is more like a game. May be for the horse. But not to an extend that once and may be by mistake he bucked and hit my hand closer to the wrist, thank God it was only a bruise not a broken wrist. So yes here there are much more to it than just a play

How old are you? Can you join 4-h or FFA….in both of these organizations you don’t have to have a horse.. there is horse judging, horse bowl. Agriculture classes.. and you will network with those with horses.. and magic can happen.. or older? Help with these organizations or help with Handicap Horse riding programs.😮

The exercises themselves are helpful, but I think if you’re going to use your partner as an example of your student, you should speak to him kindly like you would someone truly new. Definitely low patience vibes and I wouldn’t want my kids being spoken to “well, that’s not how I would do it, but I guess that’s fine” or “let me make sure you even know what the hind end is”. Even my non-equestrian partner who was watching behind me said he wouldn’t wanna learn of someone was critiquing him like that.
