Equinox/Terrain p0411 Error Code Problems

Thanks, I have a 2015 equinox and got this code .I took it off ,no water .Connected it to 12v DC and it worked .I then cleaned ground wires then put everything together and no more engine light.

Our 2013 Equinox had the p0411 error code. Both SAIS check valves were replaced @ $500 a piece, but code remained. Turns out the issue was a broken pin in the wiring harness connector for bank 2's check valve. $147 for a new harness plus labor. Very happy the problem was finally diagnosed properly by the third mechanic we took the vehicle to, but a little frustrated by a prior mechanic that replaced our Cadillac converter (Ha!), where a day later the engine light came on. I got the code p0411 code then, but opted not to pursue it after spending gobs of money on the catalytic converter. That was a mistake! It wasn't until a year later, when registration time came around that the p0411 issue had to be addressed. After $3000 of mechanic's bills, the broken pin was identified as the issue. So was it the mechanic that replaced the converter that broke the connector's pin or just a faulty pin that naturally broke? That debate can rage on, but suffice to say, "Don't ignore engine light issues!" It will cost you more in the long run.

Great video. A friend had this code, and after watching the video we went out to check his air filter. It turns out that the tube from the air box lid wasn't even connected, so it's likely that the oil change place must have opened up the air box to check the filter and forgot to reconnect it. Thanks for the help.

Your freind is lucky. That air pump could be destroyed if it ran with unfiltered air.Dont ever have the oilchange guys change your air filters . Factories change filter sizes like people change lipstic.The oil change guys cant keep a thousand filter in stock. They will cram a goodenough filter in.

So basically in a cold climate it pumps cold air and condensation into the ports solidifying carbon eventually plugging them up and causing the pump to either take a fuse out or burn up completely...What are the fuses for if they don't blow before the pump goes bad?

It's not always that being the issue a lot of the times the heads get clogged in the back also so it could be something as simple as this or it could be something way worse

Secondary injection pumps purpose is to blow air into the catalytic converter for it to heat up to temp quicker upon cold startups

With these engines. Start with what you discuss and follow it to directional control valves and start cleaning the routing of air. Yhe top holes can plug.

Got a 2008 Equinox it's got some kind of jumping transmission thing going on but the transmission after it gets warm it shifts in and out of gear like it should don't miss gear at all so what do u think i need to check? Any help would be much appreciated...thanks .

I would definitely start with checking fluids and filter. Unfortunately these newer cars have control modules for everything and can cause sporadic issues. My wife's Caravan is slipping just in 5th gear on the highway before going into overdrive. can't fix it as a DIYer. Needs a new module.

This system is ONLY ON SOME CARS THAT MIGHT GO TO CALIFORNIA. It seems to be hit or miss depending if the factory build guy had fat fingers that day or had a hangover. My 2015 equinox 2.4 has an EPA AND A CALIFORNIA EMISION STICKER ON IT. IT DOES NOT REPEAT NOT HAVE THIS SYSTEM.

Hard to say on that one without looking at it. I heard of a few that the crossover pipe would get water in it somehow. I'm not sure this would prevent the engine from starting. Maybe another electrical issue related to the system? Typically this will just make the engine stutter and be less clean on startups. Let me know if you have any other codes along with the 411

Time to barrow the obd2 and get some codes on it. From my experience, check grounds, and battery level. Then check air flow, then gas delivery. Now is it nothing, clicking, wants to turn over but won't turn over.all of these indicate a root cause. Check for fuel, air, spark, ground, if all this is no good might Crack it open to check timing.hope it's a crank position sensor, or cam p sensor on the top.

I can’t blow through it at all. Does the engine need to be running? Is there a time that it’s closed and open?

@@TheFreedomMaker I think so. The solenoids only open when the engine first starts up and then they turn off. Something like that. I modified the PCV system so hopefully less moisture. I had a pending P0 411 and it was cold out.

Hey I have a 2013 Malibu with this dam code the pump works because you can hear it come on and I replaced it like an idiot not realizing the original one I replaced worked to but I’m still getting this code the car has no exhaust leaks and the air filter while it isn’t new it’s not terrible any ideas?

In our situation, the equinox motor design was junk from GM and it was consuming about 3 quarts of oil every oil change. We "disposed" of our equinox, since they wouldn't give us hardly anything for a trade at the dealership. They knew these cars have issues and it screws the owners in the end. Shortly after we got rid of it, my friend got a letter stating there's now a lawsuit for the Equinox that consumes oil due to faulty design and you can be reimbursed for engine trouble or poor trade in value. Anyhow, I will have to look a little further into your situation. I'm not sure what else that could be just at the moment.

@@TheFreedomMaker Bad piston rings is the cause for the oil consumption. My 13 Terrain has the same issue. I top it off with a quart of oil every thousand miles.

@@AJWise theres a class action law suit about this problem yours may be in it would have to call a chevy dealer and they can run ur vin and see if ur part of it then they make u pay for them to change the oil n have to monitor it for 2k miles and once they see it burns that much they will pay to fix the issue
