Amanda Dāvida think about it this way to get the correct diagonal : go up at the same time that the horse leg to the wall goes in front. I don’t know if this makes sense😂😂 let’s say go have a wall to your right then go up when the right leg (because it is the one close to the wall) goes up. Then you also have to change diagonals when you change directions: count 1,2,3 go up on 3 but be quick. Imagine if the horse leg is on the right then 1(left leg goes in front) 2(right again) 3(left and go up ). Hopefully this helps !!

Go up at the same time that the horses leg at the wall is forward. If your asked to change your diaginal do 2 sits rather than 1 when your next ment to sit in the rising/posting trot.

Im going to the big horse arena thing and I will be doing diagonal but if someone may please tell me how do you get your horse to do it? Like do I just putt on the right side of her mouth slightly?

Presumably you learned this already, so in case anyone else wonders this...You don't tell the horse to trot on a certain diagonal. The legs of the horse already move in diagonal pairs at the trot. The rider has to know which diagonal pair the rider needs to rise with and if the rider is on the wrong one, the rider has to fix themselves by staying in the saddle for one extra beat. It's all about posting to the trot, which is an action humans do in response to the rhythm because it is more comfortable for horse and rider. The idea is that we rise with a specific pair to help the horse balance on turns.
