ER8411 Not uploading and downloading at the same rate? Try enabling flow control to fix the disparity. That's exactly what this video is all about.

"Switch over to safari" to make it work. Not something one hears everyday.

It was either that or use edge lol. Idk why but with openSpeedTest, Omada, and Alta Labs, I’ve been having issues with Firefox. Hoping my issues were fixed in the newest versions of Firefox but idk.

Very interesting, I think TP-Link needs to come up with a solution pretty quickly given that internet connections over 1gbps are becoming more common. Great video, and great production quality as always!

Seems very strange that something like this would be an issue out of the box. At least they have a “fix” available now even if it’s less than ideal

Hey, I was the one of the people commenting about the low speeds on the other video. Glad the new fw worked for you, it didn’t for me and some others. I’m still battling tplink support without resolution, fist they said this wasn’t even possible, and now they are saying the modem is not compatible with flow control. I find it hard to believe, 802.3x has been around for decades. We will see, but I’m quite disappointed with the overall support experience.

I'm actually pretty surprised that it doesn't fix it. At the very least you know how video evidence of it working and can back up your claim. It's unfortunate too because it clearly can go the extra mile.

Evidently this is a thing in enterprise hardware according to some Cisco folks. But it seems backwards to me. I’m no network pro so what do I know

That seems a little odd. I seem to get the same thing when I put open speed test docker on my unRAID server and I get full speed down (9.6-9.8Gbps) and only half speed up (5.5Gbps) it has gone faster but I made some changes and can't remember what I did. But i think it was the MTU to 9000 (6x1500) between devices i.e. just 10Gbps links and the rest staying at 1500 MTU. I currently run Mikrotik crs309 and it is fast enough for my at MTU 1500 so I leave it at that. But like I said before soon will be a move to tp-link which will be a full setup of approx. £1500 - £2000 but I am waiting for full fibre (1Gbps / 1Gbps Up/Down) till the move as everything works for my needs currently. But my main take is get open speed test on the unRAID server to do internal testing to find the bottleneck :)
@SPXLabs
@SPXLabs 11 ай бұрын
Unfortunately I can’t modify the external MTU. But in the Omada controller it doesn’t let you set an MTU greater than 1500 on the WAN SFP+ port. How are you testing WAN speed to your unraid server? That would be cool to do.

@@SPXLabs Don't think it's a packet size issue (or MTU/MSS) - IF you believe the TP website they say "64 Byte Packet Forwarding Rate ~ 1080 Mbps" (= 1.900k pps) and later "1,518 Byte Packet forwarding rate ~ 9970 Mbps" (= 820k pps) Unless your traffic is totally fragmented - then wireshark etc would give you some answers
@SPXLabs
@SPXLabs 11 ай бұрын
I don’t think it’s MTU either but sometimes it can be.

did the firmware fail through the controller as you tried to update manually, rather than waiting for the device view to show new fw ( or in the app go to fw update and upgrading from there?

One Cisco I worked on needed to have Bandwidth Control turned on - always - to achieve full speeds e.g. if you had real 500 Mbps up/down at the Modem/ONT you needed to set the Cisco Bandwidth control limits to 800 Mbps up & down

@@SPXLabs just got the ER8411 and it looks like it's missing the ability to do multilayer. TP-Link calls it Multi-Net NAT. Instead of using the RoaS (ER8411 being the stick), I have a 100Gb L3 switch that does all the inter-vlan and routing.
