Why jewish women used to wear scarf and later started wearing wigs to cover their hair. Similarly Christian women used to cover their hair , even now nuns wear it. In many western countries the slavery was present. Even in the united states the slavery ended in 1865. But even in 1960’s blacks had separate water fountains, they were not allowed to buy homes in the same neighborhood . Muslims need to go now beyond scarves issues.

Good interesting discussion, but Qur'an is also universal for all times and so if we restrict or read it in the context of history only it becomes time bound.

What can you say about a society or a religion that considers women as nothing more than breeders, a field to plow on, a wife among many or a sex slave to a rich Muslim man.
