Your expanded definition of economics blew my mind a tiny bit.

Thanks for the video, how do we highlight the ergonomic features with supportive data/evidence?
@NonfictionDesign3 жыл бұрын
Good question! It's important to prototype and test repeatedly. We insist on user testing, both informal (e.g. we wear a prototype around the studio) and formal (e.g. observational studies in clinical settings where we hand users the prototype and see how they hold it, ask them how it feels, etc.). The data collected is often qualitative but can also be quantitative. Thanks for watching!

@@NonfictionDesign thanks a lot for the answer. Really hope there is a way to use data to support the ergonomic design can help users in certain ways or reduce certain pain points.

You mentioned designing things to fit the average person. Granted these items are adjustable but it's only for this hypothetical range of averageness. Something I would love to see is public spaces having chairs tables etc for people of extraordinary proportions the extra large and the extra small.

@@NonfictionDesign Can you tell about physical ergonomics in design ??

Looking for examples of ergonomic homes but cant seem to find any not a fan of 90 degree angles looking for rounded soft natural lines and materials used in home construction Anyone?

You don't hear of home design as ergonomic very often. Usually, it centers around human factors and lifestyles. But, you can look into computational and generative designs. These technologies allow designers/engineers to create very unique, one-off designs for specific use cases. We have a CNC router table in our workshop to design just that. Thanks for asking the question! Cheers.

Would be interesting to hear some examples of bias against women in ergonomics. As a 186 cm male (which is not extremely tall) I struggle with most “standard” countertops, sinks, tables, chairs - they all seem to be designed for shorter people.

You should check out the book "Invisible Women"! Not necessarily ergonomics specific, but how women are left out of data collection and the disastrous results.

Any thoughts on how these principles could be applied to transportation. It would be incredible if we could create a sense of euphoria for transit riders.

Thanks for watching, Robert. We're with you on applying this to transportation, and actually have already thought about it. We invite you to check out our dreams for the future of Nashville's public transit here: nashville.nonfiction.design/. Let us know what you think; we'd love to keep hearing from you.

Good design talks to emotions, not logical. Shoes for example, looks cool, but over 90% of time you don't look at them on yourself. The Future Utopic Future is having everything mass customized.
