The extra M3 6mm screw is for locking out the horizontal / vertical pivot function. 🙂 There’s a hole in the center of the VESA mount plate: if you screw the M3 in from the monitor side into the arm, it locks out the pivot function and forces the monitor to stay horizontal. It’s useful in cases where you mount an extra wide monitor and accidentally engaging the pivot may hit result in the edge of the monitor hitting the table and damaging the display panel.
@kwiatteck Жыл бұрын
I used wrong word to describe this movement. I meant pivot. However rest of the story is correct. I have a small play with the screw mounted, however I chose to ignore it. I noticed some black wear remainings of plastic sleeves in the middle hinge, wondering how long it will take to wear it out. Kiitos!

1:43, I don't know if all LX stands ship with the parts, but there is an alternative way to mount the stand to a table. In the instructions it's called "Grommet Hole". Basically, instead of a clamp, you drill a hole in the table: there's a plate, a threaded rod and butterfly nut that ships, I think, with all LX stands although your photo at 0:38 doesn't show it. Here's instructions (kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKeukIWYgcuEnMk)

This was the exact review I was looking for! I've been looking all over the place for opinions on the LX stand, since it was so expensive, but this review gave a very detailed explanation on the pros and cons of the stand. Also appreciated you pointing out that the Amazon premium stand appears to be exactly the same, but with a different badge on it. I still plan to go with the ergotron version though as the amazon stand is only $10 dollars cheaper (at the time of writing) and I figure the longer warranty is worth the trade off for $10. Thanks for the helpful video!

This was a great video, and you're the only reviewer I've seen who mentioned that a single arm can be used, instead of arbitrarily using both. Although, I wouldn't recommend cutting a piece of your table off just to make space for the monitor arm's base. I think it would have been a far more practical solution to drill a gromit hole, and then connect the base using the gromit mount accessory.

For the Monitor arm, were you also restricted by the same 5°degree downwards tilt adjustment on the screen? If so, did you bend (is possible in your case/model) to bend the metal tabs out to get a greater degree of tilt? 5degrees is simply unacceptable if you've got two of these arms on a pole with monitors in a vertical stacked configuration and you need the top monitor to tilt down more than 5 degrees in order to have the best viewing. Thoughts or observations about your arm and the above?
@EverythingPractical Жыл бұрын
I think you would be able to modify the stop tabs in order to create a greater downward tilt. However, I am not sure it will maintain the set position. Perhaps worth a try anyways 🙃

When you screw the swivel-locking screw in, does it still give few degrees (to level monitor for example) to operate or should it be no play for swiveling at all? Also hinge closest to monitor, left-right movement is quite hard to move, but can be done.

5:55, could this be what you are looking for? Otherwise, if you mean the height adjustment that is on the monitor (without the stand) you can position the mount to the max height or hold the mount, then adjust it. But this is tricky 😉 I hope this helps!

@@EverythingPractical Hi. Well that was my point... If I want to raise or lower the monitor straight up or down it would appear that this sort of arm not good as it can only move in an arc. Yes you can adjust that back bit. I was referring to after it is all assembled. The LG Ergo Stand I think is more what I am after although LG doesn't sell it as an independent product.

Ah, I understand now. However, I find this small arc in the vertical axis hardly noticeable. At most you need to slightly reposition yourself when you raise and lower the stand, which you would likely need to do either way when adjusting the screen position. You also are able to move the monitor further back with the Ergotron. If you have a deep desk, this is less of an issue, but consider the viewing distance to your monitor. My recommendation is still the Ergotron.

If we already have this arm how do we remove monitor to change out.
@EverythingPractical Жыл бұрын
I would remove it only from the middle portion and leave the mount and one arm connected. To the table. So, the reverse process of assembly. Good luck 🙂

Hey! Could you please help me a bit. I have the same Ergotron Arm but I can't figure out how to move its VESA panel. I mean I can spin it around its axis but I can't even change its angle.
@EverythingPractical3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I am happy to help. I am not sure what you are trying to do exactly. What do you mean by moving the VESA panel? Is the monitor mounted?
@EverythingPractical3 жыл бұрын
It is very difficult to change the angle of the VESA plate without the monitor mounted. Once everything ia mounted, you shouldn't have any issue titling your monitor. It is stiff, but needs to be to hold the monitor as you want.

@@EverythingPractical Thank you very much for you prompt response. No it is not mounted yet because I want to change VESA panel's orientation first. Otherwise my monitor will be placed with display looking up. Any chance I can contact you in any other way, WhatApp / Facebook or Discord? Anything else where I can share photos and explain the problem?

@@EverythingPractical thank you very much for your help. I guess I've figured it out.

Ah, I understand. So, I recommend mounting the monitor to the Ergotron arm, placing the arm on the stand table mount (already mounted to the table of course) and then you will have no problem swiveling or rotating into the position as you wish.

Hi, do you know what is the minimum thickness of the table for the setup the Ergotron + 34" monitor (about 7.5 kg)? I have 1.5 cm table desk (chipboard) and I'm afraid it could be broken of the setup :)
@EverythingPractical2 жыл бұрын
A minimum thickness is hard to say as it will always depend on the material. In your case with chipboard, it could work if you think it is stable enough. If not you could try using additional shims as support.

Has it actually been keeping up your CF/CJ791? Been looking at way too many reviews by now, and.. reports are all over. Has it started sagging over time? Am trying to find an arm to keep it above my 49" - which this one might be a bit too low for, but, there's that "extra tall" option that might be the one to get for that. Thanks,

Still holding like day 1, no sagging! 💪
