Many disagree, but this is my favorite Clapton era. When he switched to the Strat full time his vibrato came out at it's peak, and he played with so much more groove. Cream is great, but to me he hit his peak in the 70s.

Clapton has got to be the best guitarist of all time. Hendrix died too soon. BB stayed too boxed in. EVH wasn’t able to evolve more than 2 decades. Poor SRV dies in a helicopter accident. Clapton survived it all and stayed relevant, but not only that. His style changed. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s....-and the man still relevant and killing in the 2020s.....please tell me who else is doing this.....

At about the 0:50 mark you see at first Clapton is facing forward but then he’s gonna turn and look back at his band and it’s a signal… Very similar to NFL football at the line of scrimmage the QB uses a cadence and then the snap count and then the ball is snapped… Clapton is the QB so when he turns to look back at his guys the first time, he’s saying ok get ready but then he looks back again and he’s telling them he’s about to begin the song
