Eric Clapton often worked with Nathan East. Golden group. If Eric Clapton could form a band with Nathan East, Steve Gadd, Andy Fareweather Low, and Sancious David, that would be perfect. Missing Billy Preston. Their live show in 2006 impressed me!

I saw this tour in the late 80's and I think this was the first time this band played together w/ Phil Collins drumming. Phil Collins is a great versatile musician, great on the drums,Nathan East the bassist is actually plays w/ a lot of jazz musicians. Greg Phillinganes is awesome on keyboards.

Slowhand is God! Every real guitarist knows that! His outro in this version is the best ever. Clapton and Jimi could improvise a song several different ways, and pour the nectar of the Gods into our souls!

Guitar boldly introduced ROCK MUSIC in the hands of Eric Clapton; Sunshine of your love is one of the major-foundation-blocks, upon which Rock could be built and pursued. Eric gave ROCK MUSIC a solid Platform from which future generation could develop and express their MUSIC cravings through ROCK MUSIC.

I remember watching this entire concert on MTV. I almost bust out laughing when he hit that clam (bad note) and they threw up that "Sorry" balloon graphic. Good to see that Eric Clapton isn't afraid to laugh at himself. Of course, when your rhythmm section has Nathan East and Phil Collins in it, you can't really go wrong anyway...

There's a reason the pro's will play a American made stratocaster over a Squier. The quality of work put into the guitar, the quality of materials used, the playability, the tone, the ability to stay in tune, the dependability of the guitar, etc..Just starting out practicing in your room on a 15 watt amp, no a $1500 guitar isn't going to make a noticeable difference over that 150$ one. Squier is still a good guitar, especially for the price.

I don't consider this a cover. It was written by bassist Jack Bruce, lyricist Pete Brown, and Eric Clapton (Cream). Clapton wrote the chorus ("I've been waiting so long…") which also yielded the song's title. Although Inspired by a Hendrix performance, Jimi actually covered this song.

@chooseyourblues I said he was sounding better then than he is NOW. He did sound pretty good on From the Cradle, but that was almost 20 years ago, that was the last record of his that was really worth buying, I'm a musician and it's pretty common that someone will say to me, did you see Clapton on TV the other day, he sounded like a shadow of his former self. You obviously haven't listened to the Bluesbreaker record lately, he's playing nowhere near as scorchingly now.

Actually that is true...When slaves were brought to America, they brought with them their native African music and rhythms, which they later developed into blues, which in turn developed into: Rock, Jazz and different kinds of Pop music. So in essence, all popular music since the 60's owes it's existence to Blues and the black Americans.
