My God! This is a seriously outstanding performance. Clapton in full throat, Collins drumming like a hyperactive madman, everyone's in the groove. They seriously do NOT make 'em like this anymore.

This is my absolute favorite version of White Room--When Eric starts bending that Strat at 4:07 it sends shivers down my spine--add to that the phenomenal voice & keyboard of Greg Phillinganes--Nathan East on Bass and Phil banging those drums--it is simply perfection-L

You can always tell when Phil Collins is drumming on any tune, especially on live tracks, he’s just got his own unique drum sound and always has had, even from the early Genesis days.

Yea, indeed. By the way, that guy is named Greg Phillinganes. He was in the band Toto, later on, and before then he was in Michael Jackson's band. Personally, I think that they nailed the sound of the keyboards during this song; particularly during the choruses.

I am probably one of the rare who think that Eric actually made a huge progress on all levels as a solo artist. Dont get me wrong The Cream, Blind Faith and all other projects were great but alone Eric truly found himself in expression, sound, skill etc. Specially the sound of strat is so beautiful, powerfully overdriven yet sublime and full of clarity, just magical !

That's the red Strat that's on the cover of Monet and Cigarettes. Phil Collins is really a good rhythmic drummer. The organ player sings the break part real good. Nathan East on bass, comes in on time, adds humor to Clapton's seriousness.

Best version of this song for me. I come back every so often to hear Eric absolutely destroy that strat from 4:06 onwards. I love him when he's in this mood - just crazily aggressive while maintaining his precision and tightness. Probably the cocaine, but yeah still bloody amazing nonetheless 😂😎

LOL! 😂 Respect! I remember-and this goes to show how OLD I am-🤣 when when I was a kid, like, 100 years ago, 😆we used to drive cross country on vacation in the summer. Whenever we had to stop at a rest stop to go for a bathroom break, I remember there was always graffiti written-or more like carved 😂-into the bathroom stalls saying either “CLAPTON IS GOD” or “HENDRIX IS GOD”. Never understood that til I got old enough to discover both. Glad I was fortunate enough to eventually grow up with their music and classic rock in general.

I first saw Eric with Cream when I was 16, and have been listening to him ever since. Every note I could. And I think this is one of his greatest solos ever, along with the "Have You Ever Loved a Women" solos in the Scorsese blues documentary. No one can construct a solo with that much passion AND structure. It is like a great short story told with sirens.

Clapton IS and always will be God to me too. I've watched this a thousand times - I like the wry smile he allows himself at around 4:40, when he knows he's nailed the solo ... but also, the grimace at 5:16, when he fucks up the high bend, lol.

I think this is one of the great Clapton solos recorded, albeit froma semi-obscure concert film. Beyond just being blistering, it's got an almost perfect structure to it. Virtuosity coupled with passion. And I love that at about 4:40, you can tell that Clapton himself knows he's in the midst of something phenomenal, even by his standards. This is transcendent.

In the white room with black curtains near the station. Black-roof country, no gold pavements, tired starlings. Silver horses run down moonbeams in your dark eyes. Dawn-light smiles on you leaving, my contentment. I'll wait in this place where the sun never shines; Wait in this place where the shadows run from themselves. You said no strings could secure you at the station. Platform ticket, restless diesels, goodbye windows. I walked into such a sad time at the station. As I walked out, felt my own need just beginning. I'll wait in the queue when the trains come back; Lie with you where the shadows run from themselves. At the party she was kindness in the hard crowd. Consolation for the old wound now forgotten. Yellow tigers crouched in jungles in her dark eyes. She's just dressing, goodbye windows, tired starlings. I'll sleep in this place with the lonely crowd; Lie in the dark where the shadows run from themselves.
