Eric Clapton wrote this song in honor of singer, songwriter and piano player, Richard Manuel of The Band( formerly Bob Dylan's backup band). Richard's influence on Eric caused him to leave the band Cream and change the course of his career. Richard, for years afflicted with addiction, hanged himself in his hotel room while on tour in 1986. The Band's final performance is the subject of Martin Scorcese's The Last Waltz which is the greatest concert film of all time.

Richard's daughter has been a friend for 35 years. Knowing the background you can understand Eric's lyrics are Richard's voice pleading for help. By the time of The Last Waltz, Richard was already well gone. @@Mr.Thermopyle

Not gonna lie, I got goosebumps as soon as i saw the thumbnail. I knew what you were about to experience. And I don't practice any religion. The beauty of the human spirit and the joy that can be expressed through music are enough for me. Namaste.

My brother and my niece sang and played Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" at my great grandmother's funeral. She was Catholic so the service was at her fine grand church. It was something very special. May I suggest you 'react' to it?

This performance is from one of a series of concerts called Pavarotti & Friends. They were benefit concerts - 10 in all - hosted by Luciano Pavarotti between 1992 and 2003 in his home town of Modena, Italy. Each concert featured a number of well-known artists from different genres and benefited a wide range of causes. This one was held June 20, 1996 to benefit Bosnia and fight world hunger. There are so many astounding performances from these concerts. A few personal favorites: Pavarotti and Tracy Chapman ("Baby Can I Hold You Tonight"); Pavarotti and Skunk Anansie ("You'll Follow Me Down"); Pavarotti and James Brown ("It's a Man's World"): Pavarotti and U2 ("Miss Sarajevo / Concert Version") - I hope you'll consider reacting to one or all of these as time goes on. They will blow your minds and fill your hearts.

Eric Clapton is not just one great guitar player, composer and singer, he is also someone who cares about others and, as far as I know, he is a Christian believer. Many years ago, a young couple of friends became addicted to drugs and were send to a rehab house in England. One day they heard some commotion outside, came to the door and there was Eric, as he used to visit houses and rehab centres where young people were to tell them how an addiction can destroy a life, as well as the lives of those around him/her. Luciano Pavarotti was, will always be, one of the finest tenors, not only because of his vocal capacity, but also because of his sensitivity, becoming the character of the aria of the opera he was singing, translating feelings (words) through his voice. Thank you dear Andrei and Dominika for sharing this beautiful moment. I understand your feelings Andrei.

Eric founded, and has funded the Crossroads Rehab Centre in Antigua for the past 25 years. There have been 6 festivals to raise money, and the initial concert in Madison Square Garden in NY. He has auctioned off many of his best known instruments to aid the cause as well. A lot of the controversy he drummed up during the Covid lockdown was directly related to the affect the lockdown was having on people in recovery. He's very serious about rehab, and is personally active in the movement.

Because, i was sure, Andreyii would cry, and Dominica would take off her shirt😂I like your reaction so much... But, that time, Andreyii, was really sad😢What's wrong? Dominica is there for you, even if you feel sad, you have no right to cry, when somebody is with you, supporting you😢I said, i think i'm one of the guys who told you to react to that, because, i will see Eric CLAPTON, LIVE, in MAY, in PARIS😂 (I HATE THAT TOWN, EVEN IF I'M FRENCH, BUT, IT'S THE CLOSER TOWN FOR ME TO SEE HIM, i worked as a roadie, on a show when i was younger, this time, i will be in the audience😂)... You're a fantastic couple....Peace from France ✌️
