No way. It's not the same song without Paul's astonishing bass lines going with it. Whoever is doing bass is just find a basic line to go with the song, which is ok, but for me Paul's original bass sends this already great song into the Fucking Amazing category.

Funny enough Eric has a higher honor than the likes of Paul Maccartney or Elton John etc. Theres MBE, OBE, CBE, KBE, GBE. Maccartney is an MBE or member of the British empire, clapton is a CBE or commander of the British empire. Only the last two get a knighthood kbe, gbe and are extremely rare to get for a celebrity. The reason the likes of Maccartney amd elton are sirs is because they also got knighted or received a Knight bachelor which is actually an award that is very low and noting to do with the orders of civilary such as mbe, obe, cbe, kbe etc. It just happens that the honour comes with a sir prefix. But technically Clapton has a much higher honour CBE, compared to say Maccartney MBE. But i still think myself it would be nice for him to get the sir prefix, because hes done more for charity than Paul maccartney ever done.

McCartney is not a sir due to his KBE as you put it, because he doesnt have one he only has an MBE which doesnt entitle you to the sir prefix. He was awarded a lower and completely seperate honour called a knight bachelor, this is why he is allowed be called sir. But as far as who has the better honour, Clapton has a far superior honour in his CBE compared to maccartney with his MBE and seperate knight bachelor. Clapton has just been unlucky to never receive the knight bachelor.

Very nice to have the chance to see/hear this . . . but, best version ever? Hmmmm. Look behind Clapton - a million+ string section. Can you hear them? Nope.But, I would've liked to have heard them.
