Why does this sad song make you feel better when you are sad. I've thought about this and believe it allows the sadness to flow freely and flush out the pain. It is bittersweet-that means its sadness is beautiful and compelling; so very intense, the emotionalism of it seems so strongly determined to comfort, if you will let it.

Clapton is playing a 12 string 1972 Martin guitar on this track. This song must have been paired up with "Let It Grow" as he used the same guitar on both songs. It was actually owned by Yvonne Elliman but used by Clapron throughout this tour. For you EC "Nuts" out there.

@gordonastley Yes, it is Yvonne Elliman I love her sultry soulful voice. she did quite a bit with Clapton 70's & 80's. She got her big break in the original Broadway Cast of Jesus Christ Superstar potraying Mary Magdeline.she just wasn't given the credit of her vocals on the charts that she deserved, other than the tune "If I can't have you". There was a song she sang in J.C. Superstar "I don't know how to love him", but the person we all heard singing it on the radio waves was Helen Reddy.

It's strange, it sounds slghtly different than the timepieces version. I guess the mix is a bit different, maybe Yvonne Elliman is less in front on the time pieces mix. Anyway, this song gives me chicken skin every time I hear it, and I can't get enough of it. EC described his music from this period as impressionist paintings You can hear here, very subbtle touches (YE vocals, Dick Sims organ and GT super precise solo). Thanks fo posting

Are you sure George is Harrison? I always thought it was George Terry, the regular slide guitarist in Clapton’s mid 70s band.
