So hard to believe this is 23 years ago! Still have the VHS, taping MTV all day. Live Aid, The Prince's Trust, and charity jams like Knebworth were so great..musicians of all kinds coming together like this with no egos. 2:26 is a classic...Elton looking over at Clapton wondering "what's he doing?"as he breaks into a riff of "Strangers In The Night" with a sly smile. So great!!

I saw it at 20 years old from the 20th or so (standing) row. Clapton was a virtuoso that day with the wind. Best playing though was Dire Straits' Money For Nothing with Eric Clapton. Fantastic. Rest of the evening was nearly rainy (Paul McCartney) and rainy- Pink Floyd. I got sick as a dog after the show and was destroyed after train ride back to Dublin. True Story.

I don't think that anyone stole the show of another act on that concert. Except maybe for Status Quo and Cliff Richard there was one highlight after another. The only British supergroup missing on that day may have been Queen, but of course they couldn't play a concert in 1990, due to Freddie's declining health.

Merry Christmas lol Marilee shared worldwide. Thank you
I was there. Sad to say I didn't know or rather appreciate some of the acts as I was into other music in these days of my youth (ok early married life) But I came away realising that there is more to music than some cheap cheesey lyrics and some 5 note music. Never heard Pink Floyd before but now a massive fan and the same with Clapton. But sorry 2 say I still love me trance and house. And did you have 2 remind me its 23 years ago, its bad enough being a nan now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw EC and (most of) this lineup (minus Elton and Mark) at Ames on this tour in 1990... One of the guys in our groups said "that percussionist looks like Dr. Strangelove" so that's what we called him for the show... Dr Strangelove - Aka Ray Cooper.
