This is the true meaning of "imitation is the highest form of flattery". Clapton always gave J.J. Cale credit and worked with him whenever he had the opportunity. He didn't just steal a sample, or remade the song, without giving the original artist credit. Mad respect.

I honestly think that Clapton worshipped JJ Cale in his own way. Said that JJ was largely behind his coming out of hell in the seventies. Then he just launched into that Tulsa sound era which I just love. Most of his band were from Tulsa at one point. You'd think it would be JJ worshipping Clapton, but it isn't. I love these clips of them playing live together. And without Clapton, we might never have even heard of JJ Cale. Their relationship is a pretty cool story ♥

Cale is Jesus, Clapton his disciple its that simple. They are so perfect playing and singing together. So sad JJ left us too soon, he was a great musician and wonderful human being and wish to God I might have seen him play live knowing more and more Blues greats every day. They are like two brothers to each other and to see how they interact in performances shows it. How wonderful and some people are always on Clapton for what I know not, he seems to always be good to everyone playing with him.

I listened to Eric 1st time at 16 yrs old. Our mom & dad we're very strict and we weren't allowed to listen to secular music. When daddy would leave for work, I'd take a little transistor radio, go to the pasture lay in the sun and listen to Layla over and over. As I grew up I'd listen on the car radio as much as I could with a fulltime medical transcriptionist job, was raising my son, James Bradley (a professional sketch artist sold a sketch of Hugh Laurie for approximately $1200) and taking care of our mom for 11 yrs at home after a massive stroke, whatever else I did. I hadn't heard or listened to his music in over 30 yrs. I began listening about a yr ago and was just extremely deep into his life, how everything happened, the Crossroads project and concerts. He is an AMAZING artist and has a beautiful soul! NOTHING HE DOES IS BAD, UNINTERESTING! I would just dearly LOVE to meet him and talk just a few min. His concert in Dallas on Sept 20-21 will be the same time I'll be helping a friend dying of COPD in Mineral Wells, TX. I'm getting tickets and hope to at least wave to show my appreciation! So Eric, if you might see this comment or someone tells you, please......I'm just a 61 yr old female raised on a rural farm in Grant Parish, Louisiana, USA, and you life story is especially dear to my heart bc a nephew went through Adult Men Training Center through Teen Challenge. Would someone who knows him please ask him.........Ty♥️
