Survival: We are obligated to do what we must to survive, ' if i am not for myself who will ? '. It's hard to fathom the cruelty of man, thankful you made the film come alive, congratulations 4 winters in the forest.

A lot of my parents friends were courageous soldiers in the Red army fighting the Nazis. My dad was a decorated a Red army doctor, who participated in multiple amphibious naval operations. When Jews had weapons, they could defend themselves heroically and smartly. Not just in the Red army, but in the American army, but most important in Israel.

My dad was a young Polish warsaw resident sent to the Siberian gulag to chop down trees early 1940s when he fled Warsaw to join relatives in city of birth when The Nazis invaded and were ghettoizing the city. He was caught by the Russian forces.. He passed as a Polish christian. He spoke Russian fluent and could read Russian, knew Geography. When the war started, and millions of soldiers were dying, the Russians turned to the gulags for new recruits and officer training. He signed up to train and served as an Lieutenant Colonel avoiding the early days when front lines were mowed down in Barbarosa. That saved his life by the delay in full mobilization He could not go back to Poland after the war due to his uniform. He was not listed among Polish Jewish units who served since he was with the official army. All he had was military medals shown wearing his uniform, They were stolen from his home when he was hospitalized and dying in Los angeles by Russian criminals. He was devastated to see the demolished city of Warsaw when his army entered the city after all the uprisings during the Nazi occupation. He kept a newspaper photo. As an Russian officer, his roll was to let the Germans and Polish fight it out to the last person before entering and taking control. His entire family that he left behind were killed and never found.
