and to think, he's only 2 years older than me yet he nearly just squatted close to my "unofficial" total. Knowing a beast like this exists, isn't intimidating at all, its truly motivating as fuck. I have my very first meet in 4 days and justing seeing feats like this being reached, makes me less nervous and more excited, thanks Eric.

Good Lord. Well done Eric, so close on that last squat, very impressive bench, and a damn 400kg dead after all that. Amazing lifts man. Long term plans after competing in 308 to return to 275 and be the first to ever total over 2400@275? That will be another multi-decade standing record.

Eric Lilliebridge Nice work Eric. Your squat and deadlift form is perfect and your attempt (regardless of the info before hand) on 1003lbs on squat still made me think you were going to grind that shit out. It'll be exciting to see you move up to 308 without, as you say, grueling cutting and throwing up and seeing you come in without draining your body.

Very awesome as elite as you are that 881 dead puts you on an even more elite level. 400 kg deadlift is a pull that very few have the privilege of ever pulling in a meet mega congrats! What would say though is the reason for the huge increase lately in the squat and deadlift and the stagnant bench for the past 6 or so years? Have you thought about maybe consulting with mark bell or stan efferding toget your bench up around 585-600?
@Soccasteve
@Soccasteve 10 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be a douche or anything, Eric is awesome, but I've wondered the same thing. It seems like the vast majority of his sessions are just one top set of 1-3 and I think (along with many others) that the bench requires a lot more volume than that. If he started doing multiple sets of 5-8 I see no reason why his bench wouldn't improve. Also I don't think Eric does any heavy shoulder pressing either so that might help as well. I think the squat and the dead do a lot better with heavier work and less volume but the bench is different.
@timothysnow5
@timothysnow5 10 жыл бұрын
reasons could be: 1) he has injured his pec at least once in the last few years 2) as he has increased in body weight he appears to have lost some of his arch, so his range of motion may be slightly great than it was a few years ago when he was 30 lbs lighter. This makes the lift more difficult. 3) he was not trying to maximize hypertrophy in the arms, shoulders and chest the last couple of years because he was trying to compete at 275 for a few years to break the all-time world records in that weight class. Now that he is moving up in weight class he may add in more volume because adding body weight is now beneficial instead of detrimental to his goals. 4) genetics play a large role. He may be training his upper body just as well as his lower body, but his upper body doesn't respond as well as his lower body.

It fucked my back up. My lower back was extremely tight and stiff after missing that. I was lucky enough that there was a chiropractor at the meet that worked on me about and hour after Squatting. It helped a little. My back was also cramping really bad during each of my Bench attempts in both of my erectors. I was planning on going 540-545 on my 3rd attempt but because of my back cramps I decided to try a small meet PR. I was surprised it didn't hurt my Deadlift.

So how do world records work that go across multiple federations when each federation has its own rules on a good lift? USAPL seems to be the strictest but to set a record would you not go to a federation that is more lenient on depth per say?

My side spotter on the right jerked the weight over when I went to rack the weight, I told him don't do that again because it could easily tweak something in my back. But he told me after that I almost missed the rack so his reaction was to grab the side and pull it in fast. He did his job and I'm thankful that he was there notice that.
