This workout here put me at 4 weeks out from my competition on July 19th. I woke up in the morning before this workout feeling like shit. I was really tired and tight from moving furniture into my new place and being busy running around all day the day before. I managed to lose 5lbs on Friday from missing a bunch of meals and sweating from the heat. So I had no idea what to expect coming into this workout. I didn't start feeling good until about mid way through my warm ups. I just tried to stay positive and not let the weight loss effect me mentally, thinking that I'd be weaker from it. It obviously didn't effect my strength at all because I nailed a 15lb PR with 985lbs on my top set being 5lbs lighter than my normal training weight the past couple months (295lbs). That set actually ended up feeling the best out of them all, my set up and everything felt spot on. So I guess you could say I kind of surprised myself because I didn't think this workout was going to go good coming into it. I have one more heavy Deadlift, Squat and Bench workout before the meet which I will be doing over the next 2 weeks. Then I will be de loading and resting for 2 weeks leading up to the meet.

First time actually seeing you struggle on a squat, Even at your thirds at meets you never go that slow up. No doubt there will be 1000lbs in the near future. Noticed that you are starting to look more like your brother (The grind face). Good luck at the upcoming meet and a little tip a wise person once told me: "Train smart". Btw Incredible lift!

Not sure why you answer for Eric himself. Refering to the video on my channel of a friend squatting 160kg? Obviously I did not give Eric any training advice because he's doing everything right. A tip, or maybe it should be called wise words, "train smart", which I think Eric already has done to get to his elite level. Just a reminder not to take bad decisions.

What do you do for a warmup? You certainly dont just hop into 600lbs do you? I recall you saying on your last deadlift video you start really light for a few reps working up to your increasingly heavy singles...same for squats?

What do you think about before your lifts, Eric?
@EricLilliebridge
@EricLilliebridge 10 жыл бұрын
I don't think about anything. No room for distractions with that kind of weight on my back, especially when I'm attempting a new PR and that goes for any of my lifts. I mainly try to just clear my mind and focus on what I'm going to do. Being anxious, the excitement, rush and adrenaline of attempting something I've never done before brings out a part of me that I can only tap into when that moment in time comes. Everything is pretty much a blur before and after I finish the lift. Being in a mental state like I am in this lift, I rarely remember what the lift actually feels like afterwards. Recording all of my training helps me see everything that's going on. Without being able to see what my lifts look like would be very difficult for me to keep progressing, especially at the rate I have been lately.
