I really love this man. I ate at his restaurant two years ago. The food was excellent and no drinks were spilled. I wish he had been there si I could have met him. His friendship with Anthony Bourdain was really deep. They made some interesting episodes together. One that I particularly loved was when the two of them worked the line. Such a treat it was.

I feel as I'm in very good company with Chef Ripert. Entered a culinary school (CIA), after a 30 yr. career in the steel industry, plant shutdown. Our half of the class was in the dining learning the skill to be waiters. Had a 4 top, two middle aged couples all order white wine. After serving the first two was just setting the 3rd glass down, not paying attention to the position of the tray the final tipped pouring the wine down the gentlemen's back and chair. Embarrassed and apologizing profusely he looked up at me and just said it was all right.

I was waiting on a table and I knocked over a cup of coffee, which spilled all over the table and onto a woman's lap. Another time the place was completely packed and I didn't notice a table which had been seated for me for 45 minutes. It was an old couple and the man was so mad he wouldn't even talk to me. Cringing right there with you lol...
