He was, without question, one of the most significant figures in shaping the Prem to what it's evolved in to now. Klinsmann was probably the first 'superstar' of the era to arrive, and had a stunning season in that first Spurs spell, but can't be considered as influential as Bergkamp or Cantona. I guess what that did show was the growing draw of the PL.

Never underestimate the love and esteem in which Eric Cantona is held by fans at Manchester United. If ever a statue should be erected of any ex-player, the majority of fans would vote for Cantona, over all others. A player who won the French title with Marseille, then the following season with Leeds, then the first of four titles with United, ending 26 years in the wilderness. That season was the start of United's almost total domination, until Ferguson left. United fans all know that first title was thanks to Eric Cantona. Liverpool were offered Cantona and turned Marseille down. We took him from the hated Leeds. There's much talk of club legends at United, and above them all sits King Eric.

Almost a goal involvement in every game...didn't realise he created so many. I knew roy had a lot of time for him from reading his first autobiography 20 years ago. Eric was a strong character and a man.

In October 1992 I joked with a Leeds fan in school that he signed for Utd for £3mil (said I saw it on Teletext -Ceefax- on my lunch break). To which the lad replied “no way he’ll sign for your lot” as he genuinely loved him and never shut up talking bout him. Rest is history and the look of horror the day after he actually signed. I’ll never forget it. 😂! King Eric 🔰

Eric Cantona was 3rd choice forward at Leeds. Under Ferguson he became a top class player. Without Ferguson no one would have remembered Cantona. Alex Ferguson made most of these players.

I still can't believe that he retired at the age of 30/31, utd were after winning their 4th title in 5 years and he walked away, but rating cantona to the players manchester united have had, he's definitely my favourite player, the man almost single handedly won the premier league in 1996 for utd, scoring alot of winning goals that season l
