Listening to legends talking about their roots and careers is so refreshing, the current generation, will reminisce about how many Lamborghinis they have, how many tic toc views they've had and how much money they have , maybe it's not their fault, different times now and it is what it is, but it's so refreshing listening to players who used to give a shit. Two of my absolute heroes. What id give for a scholesy and butty in midfield now.....great times. Thanks gents

Bringing back great memories. Remember going to cliff and meeting Nobby, he told us the first team were at Littleton rd and gave us directions. Couldn’t believe how normal he was. Then went to Littleton road and were stood at the side of the pitch watching the first team training. First time i heard so many different accents in one place. At the end the first team all jumped in each other’s cars to drive back to the cliff. Still got all the autographs.

Loving these podcasts. Two good blokes with no airs or graces who seem like the sort of lads you'd have a beer with and reminisce about life as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s. Particularly like the part when they talk about having food on the way back from training. It reminded me of playing football with my mates for our school team then buying chips on the way back home, eating them and having a laugh together on the bus. How times have changed! I wouldn't let my 12 year old son on a bus on his own now.

Good to have all these stories down on record. It helps that Nicky Butt talks at 1000mph! It was a different time back then (obviously). Like you two, I grew up in Manchester in the 70s/80s and I used to catch the bus or ride my bike everywhere. I almost never got a lift anywhere.

Great chat lads! I followed Utd since the 60’s. I’m 70 now. First match I saw in 1969, Utd were European Champions it was Utd v West Ham. First players walking of the West Ham coach were Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters. Three World Cup winners like bronzed gods of football. And then the game, I saw my idols that day, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Brian Kidd, I think Denis was injured that day. Utd won 5-2. It’s shown on tv now and then.

This was great, even though I'm not a man u fan , these are from my generation, I remember football being exactly how they explain it , paying your subs , buses there , 14 or 15 going miles to play football , no way would kids now do that. Great watch this. 42 years old and been a united fan my whole life, met youse all numerous times at the cliff and gave me my greatest years as a football fan Falling out of love with football more and more each season as the game is just getting worse and worse Majority of players are a disgrace, officials are a shambles Even the "fans" these days ain't real fans. Tourists and Instagrammers that have no interest in what's going on on the pitch and majority of games like a library 💤💤💤 People these days can't have rivalry without being abusive I've been a utd fan my whole life but lived right next to maine road and we did car minding there every city home game and there was a steward that let us jump the turnstiles numerous times Kinkladze was one of the best players I've ever seen He he would run rings around the majority of today's players

There was another player on the opposite wing to giggs or Wilson as he was known back then, called Adrian (Doc) Doherty, he was at the time ahead of giggs in skill and development and was as Alex Ferguson referred to him as greased lightning. He was the first to actually sign a senior contract. He was from Strabane in County Tyrone Northern Ireland and actually traveled with the first team. He was due to make his debut the same time as giggs but during a game for the A team in midweek he done his knee in And could never get back to his full quality and was relased from the club at the end of the 92 season. Pity butty or scholsey never gave him a mention. There is a book written about him called Forever Young utds lost star. It's a great book wonderful and tragic story. RIP DOC 🙏
