While I don’t consider AC/DC to be metal, I am interested to hear your thoughts on them, especially since they just released a new album and plan to tour again once it is safe. Plenty of concert video of them to analyze over the years.

From what I noticed, Winger still has Reb Beach on guitar and Rod Morganstein on drums. The band basically started out as a project with some of the best musicians. Kip was a bass player for Alice Cooper in the mid 80s. I saw them along with Bullet Boys open for Cinderella in 89 when I was....Holy shit....17...lmao

It's not Kip Winger and a bunch of scabs playing on the cruise - it's the full, classic Winger lineup including Paul Taylor and John Roth, who's been playing with them since 1993. Excellent band with a great catalog of songs! Look past "Seventeen" and you'll find some amazing musicianship in songs like "Blind Revolution Mad"! 😎🎸

Hadn't even seen a picture of them before meeting Dee Synder in full makeup. Was quite the OH $H(^%!! moment. And I thought we looked crazy. Dee and the guys ended up being the coolest guys. Dee Snyder looks amazing and he aged really well. Whatever he is doing, he needs to send it over Axl Rose’s way. We watched Guns n Roses at the T-mobile arena in Las Vegas in 2019 and hooboy the poor guy could barely move he was so out of shape. He still sounded great but you can tell he was struggling with some of the higher notes because he was out of breath. Mad props though because he sang live so that was epic. Overall, they still put on a great show.

Love it!! Hi Larry! These are all great bands, including Winger (sorry guys, ha!) We think Kip Winger gets the award for best looks, but the older he gets, their hit song 17 just sounds creepy. Twisted Sister still sounds great, and that’s definitely a crimper doing his hair (or could possibly be a perm, which is how us 80’s chicks achieved that look.) Mikkey Dee is the man. A couple of years ago I went through a breakup and had to move back from Paris to my hometown of Brussels. First thing I needed when I got back was a good Belgian beer at my old rockbar. It was a sunday night and the place was empty when I stumbled in with my luggage... except for one guy sitting at the corner of the counter. I just nodded at him, still focused on my suitcase and backpack while I sat down. "What's up? Wife threw you out?" I heard. Then I turned to him and saw who it was. Mikkey fking Dee! He paid me a beer, we talked King Diamond for the rest of the evening and he put me on the guestlist for next day's Motörhead show. He still passes by that bar each time he's in town. Class act.

Just like these guys I was also born in '75 and the only Scorpions album I owned as a teenager was "Crazy World" featuring Winds of Change. I think it was just the timing. Most well known hits from the Scorpions were probably pre-1987, when our generation were still kids and hadn't really found our identity musically speaking. After a few quiet years, "Crazy World" was somewhat of a comeback in 1990, right smack dab in our heavy metal years.

Totally agree with the assessment of grown to appreciate and like some music and bands from back then that I used to think sucked lol. Amazing how your perspective changes with age

Great bands. Gotta love the videos back then lol. Once they go from running around the stage to shuffling, you know they hit that age lol. Klaus is a shuffler.

"Whatever your problem, Dee Snider will kick it's ass." "Even when he's 83... He'll look like your grandmother doing it, but he will kick their ass." Honestly, that's kinda why I always liked Dee. He always seemed like that one bro that always has your back no matter what.

Early Scorpions was kind of art rock. Look them up. The bands aged well considering how hard it is to maintain testosteronal sexual-frustration angst-stomper shows when you're in your 50s, 60s, beyond. Watch Winger's COVID compendium (Better Times Coming--featuring a Klaus spot, and Whitesnake's guitarist).

Hating winger because it’s cool, even though they actually played better than a lot of the bands from their time.

They should have ventured into progressive metal territory, where they could really show their talent, instead of the boring, simple party hard rock stuff.

@@metalheadedone they actually have some very proggy stuff in their catalog. Just not insane 20 minute Dream Theater-style wankfests.

@@metalheadedone considering how Kip is now a Grammy award winning composer and puts together large scale strings/horns/ percussion etc, I could definitely see him having the chops for it. But sadly, the only way to the top at the time was with “feel good” music. That’s why it all went dark so fast

Lmao it's funny I've always called out bands on the "audience singing the vocals thing" - I'm happy that you agree that it's usually a total cop out for not being able to remember the vocals or sing them haha
@wingerfan1
@wingerfan1 3 жыл бұрын
It’s not because they cannot sing the vocals or remember them. It’s because the audience feels like they’re interacting with the band if they get their chance to sing. That clip of the scorpions was during a time where Klaus was not 100%. Klaus is an excellent vocalist and still sounds just like he did in the 80s.
