Cars was a good movie from my childhood and it's already bringing back memories, by then I never heard of nascar and I didn't know this was considered a nascar movie, but I realized some of the stuff that was the same thing as the real world, the cars racing, the sponsors, the tracks, the lights, and the pit stops, I know it's all cars but the stands have fans, and some of the voices like the King Richard petty and Darrel Waltrip, but in my opinion I think cars was a good one

Cars by far represented NASCAR in a family friendly and fun way. Mr The King, The Hudson Hornet, Darrell Cartrip. Classic. Talladega Nights has some classic pun lines and represents Old School NASCAR. And let’s not forget how to “Get thrown out of an Applebee’s” The official Fern Bar of NASCAR. The only Fern Bar left in business. Thank you for this video. I could talk for hours comparing the two. They, in some way, are polar opposites, yet they each appeal to different levels of NASCAR fans. Kind of like how Sesame Street is on two levels. Entertaining the kids, appealing and humorous for the parents.

I like both movies but things I can’t stand about Talladega nights is the shifting on a super speedway. When they push his car to the starting grid for the final race it’s clearly a short track car for Martinsville or Bristol, and how the start to the one race is animated.

What's interesting about cars is that they use Bob Costas' voice for Bob Cutlass, but growing up I always thought it was Mike Joy. He mirrors him perfectly. The movie was certainly not my introduction to Nascar as I'd been a fan for probably 5 or 6 years (I was 12 when the movie came out. But it was certainly my introduction to Root 66.

I feel old. I turned 19 in '06. I saw both movies in the theater and I connected more with Talladega Nights. As goofy and backhanded as it was, I'm a fan of self-deprecating humor so it was right up my alley. I agree. I did not watch this movie till 2008 or so, but my little kid mind loved it. Honestly, 12 year old me had a big problem with the logic in Cars. It showed the points with all 3 of the main cars tied for 1st. If it was points as they run, the points would have changed as the cars in 2nd and 3rd gained positions to all tie for first. If it was the points before the race started, and it was based on the Winston Cup points system at the time, wouldn't Lightning McQueen have won the championship based on the 5 bonus points for leading the most laps?

Definately Disney Cars. Pixar really did their homework on the sport when they conceptualized it. The soundtrack, character stories, speedway visuals, all of it. I just don't get that excitment and sense of, "wow that looks incredible, I have GOT to go see one of these things in person" from TN like I do from Cars.
